Gelli Fun: Making and Using a Gel Plate for Mixed Media Art (No Wrong Art) Kindle Edition

I was really excited to have this book...until I read it.For whatever reason, when I hold the Kindle in the upright position (portrait orientation) the right side of every image is cut off. I have to turn the Kindle sideways (landscape orientation) in order to see the complete image.The author shows images first and then describes what she did. This makes the reader scroll back continually, in an effort to understand her description. In one instance I was scrolling back 3 or 4 pages. Sometimes the descriptions are confusing. I suggest that she show the piece in steps, with smaller amounts of text, until the final piece is shown finished.One thing that was particularly annoying was her down-talking her own work. She frequently said that she didn't like prints, didn't particularly care for prints, didn't like the colors, or that it was a failed print. Why then, did she publish them? Why didn't she choose prints that she did like? Besides which, HINT: never apologize for your work, especially if you are supposedly an author.The one valuable part of the book was her description of how to make your own gelli plate. She outlined the process with lots of photos and good descriptions. It was helpful and easily understood, and for this I am grateful.

From a DIY plate to texture tools, everything is covered. I made a 9 x 14 gel plate following her instructions and it came out beautifully. And the info about printing and design is thorough and the tool suggestions are very helpful. And affordable!

Great recipe. followed it and it turned out fine. Book is written about paper printing, but directions can easily be used on fabric also.

Actually I find it hard to give it even a half a star, the author has every right to claim "there is no such thing as bad art" but I definitely disagree with her. I expected to have fun preparing the gel plate, however after many tries nothing was worth the expense of the glycerin or the knox gelatin, plus the wasted paints. The examples in her book were not anything that one would wish to put on display. But I am happy for her to love what she has done.
