Can't make it fit
Great concept; excellent quality; but it does not fit my anatomy. I am a 5'9", 180lb American male. I have played with the cushion a bunch and I cannot adjust it to attain the correct playing position. If adjusted for proper height, no other parameters are acceptable. The cushion angle intended to achieve a good view of the neck is way, way off, so I cannot sit the guitar flat on the cushion. This makes it unstable. It also slides laterally on my thigh - it grabs my pants leg but then my pant leg rotates with the cushion movement. This instability is not only distracting but it's impossible to keep the guitar in the proper playing position without frequent readjustment.I can only give 2 stars for good concept and build quality. This product does not work for me, even considering my rather common anatomy. It may work for you - good luck.

Guitar cushion is mostly good for me.
I bought this because learning to play classical guitar in the classical position has been a pain under the right shoulder blade. Initially I thought that it was just me because I was 70 years old; but my instructor (also my son) and Google told me that it was a relatively common problem. Using this cushion instead of the foot rest eliminated the pain. However, a new problem arose. When you sit on a chair and your legs slope downhill from your hips, the cushion will slip downhill. None of my pants are rough enough to prevent this and my wife doesn't want me to practice in the nude. It helps if you can sit up straight and not look at the fret board or tie the cushion to your belt (cushions like this are available from Amazon). The best solution is to get a shorter chair so that your upper legs sloe downhill from your knees to your hip. It doesn't take much. There is a "sweet" spot between body height and chair height that has stability, no pain and no aggravation. I found it and I can better focus on making my fingers do what I tell them.

Not just for classical guitarists. Wonderful for acoustic too!
I'm 21, and have been playing acoustic guitar for 8 years now. While practicing, the one thing that frustrated me time and time again is experiencing pain. After 5 minutes or so of practicing, I would feel pain in my palms, back, forearms, and shoulders. Using a stool would alleviate the pain a little but it did not take long for the problem to worsen again. My lower back would tighten and I even experienced cramping. At 6'3" tall, it is hard to find a comfortable position to play guitar. It was just awful and discouraged me a lot.I read about this cushion prop in a book called "The Art of Practicing" by Madeline Bruser. In one chapter she discusses posture techniques for various instruments and mentions this cushion device. I decided to order it. When I propped it on my lap, OMG!!! The guitar felt weightless! I didn't have grip it and crouch over it! There was no pain. It was elevated to the right place on my body where my hands didn't feel strained. It was liberating.Every guitarist should own this. It takes all the discomfort away from playing guitar. Who would've thought such a small pillow makes such an enormous difference on a musicians life!

Should be standard equipment for classical and fingerstyle guitarists
Are you a guitarist who suffers with back pain and/or shoulder strain as the result of long hours of practice? You need this piece of equipment. Are you a guitar teacher? You should be recommending it to all your students, to help them maintain a more balanced and ergonomic posture and avoid the long-term consequences of leaning so far into the left, over the fretboard, with the right thigh raised high by a foot stand while the pelvic and lower back muscles struggle to compensate for this awkward position.I liked it so much that I bought two, in case I ever lost one. If it weren't for this little cushion, I would have had to give up playing. Most people will want to go for the large size. I'm about 5'6" and play fingerstyle with a dreadnought, and the larger size results in a very accessible angle to the neck & fretboard. Great product and should be a standard accessory for all classical-position players.

Well Made, But Too Slippery
I love the idea of this cushion; but in practice (so to speak) the cushion is very slippery and therefore does not provide a good feeling of security. When I use it I find it very hard to get a good grip on the instrument with my body; this adversely affects my practice sessions. The cushion itself is very well made, that is obvious, but I wish the "leatherette" (or whatever the material is) were something more like a rubber that would grip both guitar and thigh much more reassuringly.Since I love the *idea* of it I have not yet given up on it and will continue to work with it in the hope that I can find something to wrap it in (the right towel, perhaps).

Really Very Good
I think I permanently twisted my back as a teenager trying to learn to play a classical guitar because I would twist my tall frame around this little classical guitar. After taking up guitar again after thirty years, with this cushion my posture now is much better and I am much more comfortable. The cushion is well made and has a very good shape to encourage a good guitar position. It functions really well. I'm very happy with it. It is even better than I had hoped it would be when I bought it. I would recommend it highly to any tall guitarist.

Great product, my back is much happier
I've been using the cushion for 2 weeks and have found it extremely helpful for my back. I play an electric Strat about 2 hours per day and my back was really bugging me from sitting with a leg up on a platform. I got the large size cushion and it works great. I played around a bit with the best way to position the cushion on my leg and on which leg. I've found that placing it parallel with my left leg instead of perpendicular works the best. Also, the material on the top holds the guitar well and the material on the bottom, which is different, doesn't slide on jeans which I was worried about. $30 is a bargain for minimizing back pain. I highly recommend getting one.
