I have been buying supplements for several decades now and have not been disappointed with Solaray. Generally it is best to buy minerals in a balanced formula but there are some valid health reasons to take extra selenium. Most people are deficient in selenium unless they get it in a supplement. Modern farming practices have depleted this vital trace element from our soils and it's almost impossible to get enough selenium in our diet. Everyone needs, at least, this minimum dose size of 200 mcg. daily to promote good health. There are many valid reasons to take more. Selenium is crucial for thyroid function, helps detoxify metal poisoning, prevents certain birth defects, treats pancreatitis, and much more. It's a powerful antioxidant paired with Vitamin E. These two antioxidants do compensate for each other if one is in short supply. Multiple studies show selenium supplementation helps many inflammatory conditions when taken over the long term. THIS INCLUDES ASTHMA. I know this brand works for me. On rare occasions (like once every couple of years) I'll have an asthma outbreak during winter when closed up indoors in heated quarters and overwhelmed with dust and heating vents. I recently started wheezing and rattling so badly I thought I might actually have to go to a doctor for medication. (I do not take any prescription medications.) Since I believe in natural alternative healing, I did the research and read about how effective selenium was for asthmatics. I started on this formula at a higher dose of 2-3 capsules/twice daily and within 48 hours my breathing was almost back to normal. After two weeks, there is no wheezing anymore and I am back to normal! I have since cut back to 1-2 tablets a day. This seems astonishing... but I know the power of vitamins and supplements and am not surprised. It's also infuriating when you think about all the sick people, especially children, whose doctors will routinely prescribe Rx asthma medications (with toxic "side effects") without even giving this a try. SO many health problems can be treated naturally. I have tried other brands of selenium and think many are good. My recent experience with this brand by Solaray (the brand I just happened to have on hand when I really needed it) proved it was effective. For that reason I recommend it highly! I swear by it. I've been taking Selenium since I was in High School ... so, 50 years. Read a study back then that made me think about my health. Yeah, even as a kid I was thinking about my health. Not sure what brand I was purchasing back then, but I've bought Solaray for many years now. I like that the pills are in gel caps. I've had surgery and need my pills to dissolve easier/faster than the hard ones. I always look to Solaray if I'm researching adding a new supplement.

Me gusta mucho esta marca, me lo receto la nutriologa funcional,porque sali baja en selenio,,para evitar problemas de tiroides,y SI me funciono, tome una capsula diaria por tres meses ,y realize otra vez examen de laboratorio,y salio todo bien,en rango normal

My wife has been using this for years. She tolerates the 'Yeast Free' better than the other form. For us, it's worth the slight price increase.
