X10 control signal is on ONE phase and this unit monitors ONE of TWO phases of 220VAC...50% chance of working. Instructions say to 'move your breaker to the other phase', which is a royal PITA. If it works, golden!. If not, another lump in the failed-project-bucket.

Quality control problems
I purchased one X10 PRO PAM04 20 Amp Heavy Duty Appliance Module HD245 on Feb 5th 2023, to replace a defective one that I purchased a few yeas ago. The old one was used very little. The new one was installed 2/7/23 to remotely control my shop dust collector. It worked flawlessly for for 5 months and 4 days, then it quit. I have used X10 modules of all types for decades, most of which worked for years. But it seams like the newer products last just outside of the warranty, 120 days. I'll be switching to hopefully a better solution.I'm done with X10 products.

Questionable lifespan
I bought this to replace a failed unit of the same brand/model to which I have a Oneida Dust Collector connected. The old one failed after about 15 years of light usage (perhaps 10 on/off cycles per month). The switch is mechanical, with a solenoid pushing some plastic pieces to close/open the contacts. The failure in my old one was one of the plastic pieces; it simply broke off.New one works great, but given the design I suspect it won't last any longer than the first. Still, given the price -- and that it just "plugs in" without any installation work -- it is a good solution, especially since alternatives for controlling 220v devices are hard to find.

Alright, so this is going to get kinda technical ...
Alright, so this is going to get kinda technical...After much trial, I couldn't get this module to work. It wasn't until I found out that the two phases supplying my panel were actually 2 of three phases supplying my apartment complex. This X10 module times itself off of the two phases == 0, so it never ends up intercepting the signal, as the phase is 30 degrees off of the rest of the unit on either phase. To remedy this, I had to open the unit up and change the line from one of the resistors to the neutral (in this case ground) so that it could perform the zero detect properly. It isn't an ideal solution, this module really should be trying to pickup signals on the 30 degree phase offset too, but this hack fixed it. For more info on the source of the fix: [...]In this revised newer model, the resistor is the big 330K SMD resistor. The trace has to be cut between the resistor and the input wire. Then the resistor needs to be attached to the ground line.

Excellent Remote Switch
This remote switch is used to remotely switch a 220volt machine off and on in my woodworking shop. Works like a charm. They make these for 115 volt machines as well. Really good product.

Very Unreliable Controlling an A/C Unit
Having had long years of sattsfactory performance from X-10 devices, I ordered this to control our new 220v wall Air Conditioner., using HomeSeer as the "soft hub." The first unit I had worked for a few months, then began "backfiring" - it would click on then immediately click off again. I returned it in exchange for another. That one worked for about a year, then began the same backfiring behavior, so I sent it back for another. This time, it took about 3 days for it to start backfiring. Apparently it's just not made for the application I intended.

Worked as intended
Need all three items to make it work, but when it does. It works well.
