I bought this for my 7 year old niece to have a glow party. I had purchased a black light bulb from Home Depot previously and it didn't work. This Black Light was perfect!! It worked right out of the box. The remote is a great added bonus. The strobe effect was a lot of fun to play around with, but I had some trouble getting it to go back to constant on, so I just turned it off and back on and it reset. There are dials on the light itself, so if you lose the remote you can still have all the functions of the strobe. We used it in my livingroom and it lit the entire room. White shirts and teeth glowed very bright. We used it on some Elmers glue that said it glowed in the dark, it didn't glow under black light, but the black light charged it up and in just a dark room it glowed green, so the black light was awesome for that as well. It's a strobing blacklight, as advertised, and it's quite bright. It puts out a decent amount of visible light but plenty of UV too. Fluorescent stuff will glow bright. However it won't work for my use because I planned on lighting myself on stage and just having it in my field of vision hurt my eyes and left afterimages that took a long time to fade. I'd recommend using only in situations where it would be illuminating something (like a poster?) with the light pointed away from any viewers.

I'm using this right now as an up light, a light to "charge" glow in the dark things and to look for pet accidents. It works great but I do plan on using it the next party I have to create a party atmosphere with the music, as it is sound activated.

Covers a fairly large area, ours is mounted to wall and always plugged in. Remote works without issuesTurns on on it’s own sometimes or if power gos out and comes back on.

I have a jam studio in my basement, appx 12' x 16', I have 2 of these one in each corner and at the end of the 16' where the drum set is I have 2- 48" florescent bulbs (T-12) in a fixture and they are about 1/2 as bright as just one of these.You WON'T be disappointed, I guarantee it.
