Great piece of equipment
Being a well heeled DIY'er, I did my bathroom years ago with a manual tile cutter, the score and break type, which was fine but no good on the somewhat thinner tiles which I have now bought to do my kitchen, so I bought this electric tile cutter from Amazon. This is the first time I have used an electric one and what a breeze. There is some slight assembly required, the guard, wheel, and associated bits. They are the bits rattling about inside the body when it arrives, but assembly only took 5 mins. with minimal reference to the instructions, which include useful info. on getting spare parts, etc.It cuts tiles just fine and there is an inbuilt 45 degree strut for doing chamfers for corners, etc. The water ciculates around the periphery and it is easily drained after use and not too bad to clean. which should be done after each session.Electrically it is mains operated and the switches are sealed against water, though the IP rating is not stated. Of course it is best run via an RCD as water and electricity don't mix. But this is only a precaution. It will run perfectly well without. There is no danger as long as you don't overfill the water reservoir and of course don't immerse the motor.Overall this is a great piece of equipment. It is just a pity that most people will only use it for one or two jobs, but look at the money it saves, compared with getting a tadesman in. It is worth buying for just limited use at home. Perhaps that's why FOCUS stock it also!Only slight moan is that it won't go back in the box fully assembled, so you can forget any idea of storing it away in the box.

Tile cutter
This machine is a replacement of the same model that has done sterling service. Initial impression was good but after the first cut the cutting disc slipped from the mount and had to be re-alligned. The same thing happened after the next cut. I checked my old machine and found that instead of a metal washer holding the disc on the spindle there was a more substantial rubber washer. I swapped washers and the machine has performed faultlessly ever since. Perhaps I was supplied with the wrong washer in error (although it would be difficult not to notice the difference), or gremlins were afoot.

Fence broke
The fence is held in place by two plastic cam-locks these are easily broken. I have used it for cutting very hard floor tiles and there is ample power for this operation.

My Fence broke as well...
Great piece of kit that makes easy work of cutting tiles...except for..The guide fence is secured with a couple of plastic clips and one snapped after about 10 uses, which is a real shame as the fence worked great for guidance when cutting, as the cutting wheel is not visible during the cutting process. If it wasn't for the guide fence problem I would have given it 5 Stars.

Cheaper than hiring and you get to keep it!
For some reason this price has gone up, it was only £32.95 inc p&p when I purchased it just last week. Anyhow, I can't fault this little tile cutter in any way. For the price I paid the quality, build, and overall feel of the product is superb. Slicing through my cheap wall tiles from B&Q like a hot knife through butter!I haven't got a clue what this tile cutter would be like with floor tiles or something more substantial, but for what I need it for it's perfect. Save yourself some money, if you're only doing small DIY tiling jobs at home then this is the product to buy.I'm not sure how long the little machine will last, but it's already helped me complete the bathroom so with a spare cutting disc included too I'm well happy :)

Cuts my slates easily
Works fine on what I use it for, fence could do with some refinement , difficult to adjust. Good value for money.

Plasplugs Compact Plus Electric Tile Cutter ...
The initial setup is fiddly and poorly explained but once over that the machine is brilliant. I am using 60x30 tiles so my current manual tile cutter couldn't cope. Although this machine doesn't claim to be able to cut this size of tile it does an admirable job with a little care as obviously the provided guide cannot be used. It is messy though so have a dust sheet down and plenty of rags for mopping up the water the perspex viewing window also needs a quick rinse after a couple of tiles (probably not an issue if using smaller tiles and the guide). Cuts small cutouts for pipes and takes very small slivers off as easily as cutting a full tile I haven't lost a single tile to breakage and I am no DIY expert. The downside is the cleaning after use as most of the dust gets caught up in the water reservoir in a plaster consistency (although it makes you realise how much crud you are breathing in with a dry cutter). For £30 cannot find fault although a design improvement would be to make water reservoir removable to ease the cleaning process.

Useful tool
We bought this to replace another very similar tile-cutter. It did the job - used it to cut tiles for floor and wall tiles in a cloakkroom. It works well but is a bit messy but I think most would be the same. Good value on the whole.
