Short sweet funny read. I loved it
This was a short but sweet wonderful read another pleasurable listen/read from this outstanding author. Christmas is no time to spend alone remembering better times, having no family to fall back on and feeling an outcast from those around you. Not really fitting anywhere in the pack but not wanting to leave. This is a story filled with pain of lose but also filled with much love and humor as two people get a lesson in live, love and finding their way.Lindy not really having much this Christmas to celebrate with having trouble paying her bills, making a life for her little boy who never knew his father, life is tough for her being alone when she thought they had many years to come to enjoy each other along with raising their cubs. She really doesn’t fit anywhere in the pack most widows are older, their cubs are grown and the others have family along with a mate. She just sets on the side lines feeling sorry for herself. The alpha mate will have none of this and sticks her nose in knowing just what should be done about it. Things do not work out just as she plans as Lindy goes from lows to highs along with getting a few home truths. I really like Lindy she is a sweet lady who just needs to find where she fits in the pack. She has a lot to learn as the Elizabeth helps her find her way along with giving her a few things she has to face. She isn’t looking for love and truly scared of it, her wolf wants out to play but her human side is holding back. There is no way she can deal with anymore lose. The alpha mate talks Travis into playing Santa for Lindy’s little boy. Travis really just wants to go home to his quite little house but no one turns down the alpha mate’s request. If things went from bad to worse as Lindy’s little boy is afraid of Santa. Travis is a little spit fire as he comes to love Lindy and her little boy. He is ready to throw fists before asking questions which gets him in a spot of trouble. He isn’t about to let any grass grow under his feet, he knows what he wants and goes after it. Lindy is about to find out what this wolf is made of.I would have to say this is one of the funniest read of this series. It was short but it packs many lessons in life as the author keeps you laughing with Travis putting his paw in his mouth more than once. Lindy over reacts to things said and done which leaves to more issues and a lot of crow to eat. The author really shows you that you might want to think and ask before going off half cocked which leaves one with egg on your face.As always Holly Adams narration is just wonderful. Her voice changes are outstanding as she goes from male to female, young to old. I just loved her voice for Lindy’s little son, he keep me laughing throughout this story. The only trouble I had with this audio was when I went from home to car that the softer tones where harder to hear. I couldn’t not tell if this was edited or if she took a break it was very even out and smooth. Holly always hits the correct tones for the emotion of each character. There are times I forget I am listening to a book as I enjoyed and laughed my way through it. She truly made me feel the emotions each character was going through as their hearts broke or they were happy, glad and making a fool of their selves. I love listening to her voice it is smooth and flows easy to the ear.The author gives a well told story of the pain of losing the one you love, having to go on when you might rather not. No matter how tough life is there is always a bright side, so many people out there to help you as long as you help yourself and give back. This was a very emotional and touching read that makes you want to reach out to so many of these characters why you can’t stop yourself from laughing at them. This might be a short read but the author delivers a big punch to remind us of things we might have forgotten in are day to day lives. It isn’t always about us but those around us as well. When you live in a pack it is always a team effort. If you haven’t read anything by this author you might want to think about checking out this series whether it be by ebook or by audio you will be delighted by this authors writing style and the stories she creates for her characters. I have been a fan of this author from the very first book I picked up of hers. These can all be stand alone reads but are much better if you read them in order. I am sure one book will make you a fan.

Awesome novella in a fantastic series!! Can't wait to read book 5 :)
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!!The cover is a very important scene from the book; however, it doesn’t do much as far as attracting you to the book. The wolves are pretty, but just nothing attention grabbing for me.Okay I bought this about 10 days ago, and this is the first in the series that is a novella. Goodreads claims it is considered book 3.5, but the next book is book 5. I have officially dubbed this book 4 in the series :) I loved this story just as much as the rest of the series. This one doesn’t have much action though for those who find this important (which I usually do), but it does have all sorts of drama and humorous situations especially involved ‘Piyo’ and ‘sit’. You will have to read it to see what those words mean :) There is plenty of content to keep your interest, and I didn’t want to put it down.Okay Lindy is….well a hot mess. She has been shut off from the world for a long time since her mate died. Her cub is adorable. Lindy is so much stronger than me because I’m not sure I could have handled things as well as she did. Travis is a bachelor who wants to party until the Mate asks him a favor. They are all part of Marshall’s pack. This is a sweet Christmas tale, and I loved every second of reading it with several completely out loud laughs where my son was asking what was so funny as well as my mom. Okay I did also cry for Lindy too both in sympathy and in joy.Jackie’s series has fast become one of my favorites :) I can’t wait to read what she cooked up in book 5. Her adventures in this series are always unique and not just the same story with new names. Her writing is descriptive and makes it so easy to fall completely in love with her packs and characters.I highly recommend my shifty…err I mean shifter friends read this series :) You will enjoy it immensely. Okay I’m off to bed but will be starting book 5 tomorrow :)

Lovely Christmas Story
The story opens at Christmas time, and Wolver Lindy is barely hanging on for herself and her two year old son, Joey. Lindy had lost her husband before Joey was born, and financially and emotionally, things are pretty bad. Lindy tells herself continuously, "My son's fine, We're fine, I'm fine"; however, Lindy is lonely, sad and scared of living again.Travis is a typical young Wolver man. Travis goes to a few parties, flirts with the ladies, occasionally goes home with one, and goes on his merry way. However, lately Travis has been having some lonely spots in his evenings, looking for something he can't put his finger on. He is happy with his new pack, but misses the family interaction he had in his parents' pack.Stopping to present the Alpha & his Mate (Marshall & Elizabeth from the first book in the series) with a Christmas present, Travis is roped into playing Santa Clause for two year old Joey. Arriving at the cabin, Travis quickly realizes that Lindy is very sad, the boy is amazingly cute and the home needs some serious help in the way of a Christmas tree and some cut firewood. Before Travis realizes it, Lindy and Joey have wormed their way into his heart. This latest installment in the Wolver series by J. Rhoades is sweet, old-fashioned and just plain wonderful. As Author Rhoades weaved her magic, I was thoroughly swept up into the story and was by turns happy and sad with the main characters. Before pen and paper, stories were handed down in villages and towns by word of mouth. Adults and children alike would gather around places and listen to stories from creative minds and be swept away for hours at a time. Ms. Rhoades is that type of storyteller - enthralling and wonderful, with stories to remember. The book is a delight. One small negative, Ms. Rhoades, This. Story. Was. Too. Short! Lol
