Domino Hardwired Universal Keypad Keyless Entry Hard Wired GD1 GD-1

I put this in with minimum effort as advertised. The unit was face mounted on the inside of the garage door frame to help shelter it from weather The challenge was the 1/2 hole needed to be at a right angle. Careful drilling required. To get the wire through use a light piece of thread and put a shop vacuum on the hole and presto the thread comes through. Attach a heavier pull cord on threat and use that to pull the cable through. Also the plug will not round the correct unless the inside hole is ~ 7/8 inch.Another discovery was that I used heavier wire that used by the OEM garage door push button. The connection on the door opener (Craftsman) is a friction spring pinch connection. Since I had two different sizes wires one was loose. So the regular door opener would not light up or work. Problem was intermittent . I ended up stripping back insulation and soldered on one wire so that only one went in to the spring pinch connector. All lights came on more steady.The Domino was easy to program and easy to mount. All features worked as advertised. I did note that the flip door hinges look a little fragile, but I also noted the OEM offers replacement doors. The flip door stays up when opened to allow you to enter the code with one hand. So the hinge part flexes a lot. Yes I would buy it again.

This unit is awesome. My remote quit so I installed this outside the garage door. It is easy to install - great directions. It works perfectly. I would buy it again.UPDATE: When I ordered this product a lot of the reviews referenced the little door breaking. I was very careful opening it but Someone else wasn’t and the arm that holds the door broke. I ordered a replacement door and the first thing I did was to cut off the tabs that hold it open. You have to hold it open to press your numbers, but it takes th evstress off the little arms.h

I am happy with this product in general. It works as expected and the installation is straight forward. My only complain is related to the design. The connector between two units is a telephone jack which is much larger in profile than wire itself. This jack not only requires the drilling of a larger hole but is also difficult to fish through if the hole is not straight (mine has a 90 degree turn). It will be much easier to install if a different kind of connector is used (such as a push-in type used in ear phone).

I have a very old (30+ years) garage opener. Eventually the keypad stopped working. I found this low cost solution to the problem since any wireless keypad would not be an option. This does seem a little flimsy, but given the cost and any other alternative, this was my best option. I've had it installed for months now and it is working fine so maybe I can get a few more years out of the old garage opener which is otherwise working fine.

This was an exact replacement for a 10 year old DOMINO garage door keypad that failed. The keypad and control box come in the box. This was a quick DIY repair for anyone that is handy. Turned off the power going to the garage door opener. Used a small eyeglasses screwdriver and another small phillips head screwdriver and had it installed in about 5 minutes. Turned the power back on going to the garage door opener, programmed a new garage door code and tested unit. By doing this repair myself I was able to save about $300.

I keep buying more of these because I don't want to have to figure out what is compatible with my garage opening system. The key pads are very low quality. I have to buy a new one every 2 years. Just bought my 4th one and I have developed a system to deal with the inherent problems. The plastic cover flap has 2 little plastic hinges that break very quickly. I have to use packing tape to attach it to protect the keys. However, the keys go bad anyway within 2 years. They just stop working. As it begins to deteriorate, you have to depress the key very hard to get it to take the number. It is helpful that a little red light shows when the number is accepted so you know how many times to press the number before punching in the next number. Even so, after a while of that problem, it is just too iffy to count on. Eight years ago, my son was locked out in 10 degree weather for 1 hour before I realized how faulty this unit was. So as soon as it starts acting up, I replace it right away. I DO NOT recommend this product.

You need to make sure you are ok with small buttons before buying it. The buttons are easy to press, but they are pretty tiny and really close to each other. I always have to take off my gloves (when it is cold) to press the keys. I have had it for about for 3 months, it is working very well. This one was a replacement for old one (identical to this one), so it took my husband 10 minutes to install it. I am not sure how long the previous system was there (previous owners installed it), but some keys stopped working, which was why I bought this new one. To sum up, working well for now, and hopefully, will last for 10 years!

This keypad is so easy to use, and I love that the entry code can be changed with just a few steps. We use this feature when the neighbors watch our dog, or when we have contractors that need to get into our house. Afterwards, we switch it back to our usual code. Easy!12/1/12Less than six months later, the plastic hinge on the cover broke. Same thing happened with a previously purchased Domino keyless garage entry unit. I had to go online to purchase two additional covers (just in case the replacement also breaks).Great unit but flimsy cover!
