Astounding zoom in the pocket.
Not cheap but well worth it. A fantastic little camera that does almost everything the larger cameras do. Easy to slip into a pocket and with tilt screen for convenience. The lens is automatically protected when not in use. One slight point of note - the optical zoom capability is brilliant (x40) but at anything much over this (80 to 160 times digital zoom) you will need a tripod as holding the camera steady enough is almost impossible. That said, the sort of zoom this little camera is capable of is frankly astounding!

One of the best compact cameras!
This compact camera is the best I have found. This is my second one after the flash broke on the first one after many years service. The zoom is amazing. The speed is also great. Low light is the only weakness but it just needs a bit more time and care to compose. The wifi to pc function is great, can be a bit flaky i have found if there are too many pictures in the card (in excess of 10,000) then this slows down significantly or stops working completely. Delete some pictures and your are OK to connect again. Overall excellent... canon please bring out a replacement as this on it very hard to find!

Not originally intended for the UK market
The 3* review doesn't reflect the quality of the Canon camera, rather the fact that this is a grey market import. So, what to say ... the camera itself seems good ... BUT it's not made clear by the seller that this is NOT intended for the UK market. It clearly states on the (slightly damaged) box that it is intended for sale only in Japan. The serial number checker on the Canon UK website confirms this. This brings with it a number of issues: 1) No valid warranty in the UK. 2) The charger is not intended for the UK market, although a dodgy looking UK compatible travel adapter is supplied. 3) There is no documentation in the box. 4) The default display language is Japanese rather than English. I guess the issues aren't insurmountable, but the lack of warranty is concerning. You can download the manual in English PDF format, but you're not given any guidance as to where to find it. A bit of internet searching, a download, and then searching the document for language settings so non-japanese speaking people can navigate an unintelligible menu system all seems a bit much when you just want to switch the thing on and use it. As a slight aside, how Canon justifies the ridiculously high pricing of it's spare batteries is something I will never understand. Having said that, the camera looks good, feels okay in the hand, and has darned good optical zoom for a camera of this form factor. Will I keep it? Not sure - the lack of warranty might be a deal breaker, but Canon stuff does tend to be quite reliable - I'll think on it for a couple of days.

Well packaged, as described
Arrived in perfect condition. I have been looking for this camera for a while and was pleased to find it at a non inflated price as can sometimes happen when is discontinued.

Useless!!!!!
I received the camera today WITHOUT the cable and no instruction manual. No way to charge the battery. I received a 3 pin plug without a cable. Was not expecting this!
