Imagery and Symbols are Alive, Clear and they really Pop, no Blobs, no Squinting
this is a great deck. the card stock is thinner than others, but it shuffles very easily. the images are cartoonish, however this was a pro for me. the images are full of symbols that can be clearly seen. the imagery is colorful and clear without being garish. the people and objects are drawn fluidly, without PCS's heavy, thick black borders and cross-hatching. the cards resemble animation stills, but they're easy and fun to read. the book that accompanies this deck is organized by the major arcana, then instead of listing the descriptions of the pip and court cards by suit, the minor arcana are listed by the Number of the suit, and then by the Court Cards. i appreciate how many card reading and interpretation ideas this book offers. i am thrilled with this purchase.

High quality with an excellent book guide and detailed classic Tarot images
What you get is a nice box set of Classic Tarot cards, a well written book (255 pp of value) and the box is something you'll like keep because it is well made and holds everything neatly. The cards measure 4 1/2 inches long by 2 1/2 inches wide. The cards are colorful front and back and sturdy for years of heavy use. One of the highlights of this set is the images, they are clear and more detailed / clearer details then the traditional Rider-Waite Tarot. I have seven or more sets of Tarot cards and am a new reader (mostly for myself) and these are my favorites. I do have the RWT set and use it when the mood hits, but I love Llewelly's Classic Tarot. Let's talk about the book a bit. It has a chapter on Tarot basics including terms and a brief history. It also has chapters on the types of cards, how to read the cards and suggest reading for even more information. Know someone who's just getting into Tarot or is curious? This is the perfect set (some sets are just the cards and a tiny booklet). Know someone who's been at it for a while? This is the perfect gift because it will supplement whatever sets / books they have now. Highly recommended.

An Excellent Entry into the World of Tarot
I'm very pleased with this deck. The card stock is sturdy but not stiff, and the deck fits well in my hands. (I do have large hands) The borderless images fill the card nicely and are easy to read, and follow the standard Rider-Waite symbolism. The text at the bottom of each card is also clear and easy to read. The application of colours is not garish as in the original R-W deck and, to me, is much more pleasing. There's a little more realism in the figures but not so much as to make them realistic; they still live between the world of the metaphysical and our world. The companion book is really quite good and designed to be studied with these particular cards, though the information is applicable to any traditional Rider-Waite deck. It covers all the basics any beginner needs to know, and then some. I find it easy to read and very approachable, not speaking over philosophically but very practically.I highly recommend this set to beginners looking for an entry into the world of tarot. It is a great place to start. For seasoned readers who want a traditional deck to add to their collection, this is a good choice.

Love this set!
I LOVE this tarot set! I am relatively new to tarot card reading and I’m in the phase of collecting tarot decks to find two or three that really resonate with me. This one is definitely going to be one of those. The deck follows the classic RW deck (which I also love), but with fresh, more modern illustrations. The cards fit my hands just right and have some flexibility and texture to them, so they're easy to shuffle using the riffle technique, which is what I prefer. I really hate getting a new deck of cards and the first time I try to shuffle them, they go flying everywhere because they're so slippery and stiff. I was working with these cards right out of the box - no break-in required. On top of a terrific deck of cards, they come in a lovely, large box with a real, 247 page guide book. This set is suitable for gift giving. Of course, what deck resonates with you is very personal, but I for one am very pleased with this purchase!

The absolute BEST deck & book for beginners
I love this Llewellyn Tarot set so much. It includes a deck and a large book. I began reading tarot earlier this year and struggled with intuiting the card meanings using other decks. We aren't supposed to just rote-memorize 78 card meanings but instead read the cards based on our intuition -- so having a deck with detailed and, frankly, obvious illustrations really helps. (At this point, I need cards whose illustrations really hit me over the head with "no doy" meanings.) This Llewellyn deck, which is so closely based on Pamela Coleman Smith's illustrations in the original Rider Waite deck, makes reading SO DARN INTUITIVE. The illustrations are immediately comprehensible upon first sight, and the large accompanying book explains every single symbol (!!) on each card, which I find essential to developing fluency in the tarot. I have many decks, but this one is my favorite, my go-to, because it's so easy to read. I've also bought this set for friends who are also getting into tarot, and they all agree that it's the best they've ever found for beginners. The illustrations are so good, so detailed, so obvious in their symbolism, and the book REALLY helps.Absolutely recommended! A++!
