277 pages thin for people that don't have a clue about the stock market at all!!!
Another book filled with misleading chapters and titles! This book goes over simple analysis of technical terms, but again does NOT show any clear strategy of how to trade penny stocks. The strategy section is only 11 pages thin, and mostly just tells you what to do when your in a trade! The author Peter Leeds does very little to actually help you how to select penny stocks before you trade other than telling you to basically analyse all the financial credentials of a company which is ok for long term investing with bigger companies but certainly not the best way to analyse penny stocks. He mentions nothing about short squeezing, sec filings, what to look for, the best tools to use and many many other important elements. I've got nothing against the author, but if you go to Peter Leeds Personal Holdings on his website, you will see that they are all blue chip stocks and NOT penny stocks! This guy's method is more for long term investing on big blue chip companies like Apple, and I certainly don't rate him as a penny stock so called expert! Don't waist your money or time on this one as you will be learning how NOT to trade penny stocks successfully with this book! This book is better suited for trading blue chip stocks.

Sehr gutes Buch. Viele Insights. Wer weiß, das die US Börsenaufsicht alle Aktien unter $5 als Penny Stocks listed, weiß auch, daß da viele gute "Schätze" liegen. Empfehlenswert auch für alle anderen Aktien.

Highly Informative!
I bought the ebook a few weeks ago and carefully working my way through it. This is not a book to be read from cover to cover. Often the author will redirect you from one chapter to other supplemental chapters and back to help you thoroughly understand certain principles. This is a work-book so you will get the most benefits if you have a pencil, eraser and notebook handy and an open laptop to do some hands on work. Amazing how much I've learned in a short period of time. And if you get caught on certain concepts--as I did and am--the author provides an email where he can be reached and he is very prompt (and patient) in getting back to you. Can't say enough about this book and its author!

Great book, but not for everybody
I need to make some disclosures before posting this review. First, I have been trading and investing in the markets for over 30 years. I have done very, very, very well, being able to retire years ago at age 52. These days I am more of a short term trader than a longer term investor, using systems that are based either entirely on technical analysis or hybrid systems that combine technical analysis with elements of fundamental analysis. Second, I have long been a harsh critic of so called "penny stocks" (there is not a uniform definition of "penny stocks," but most consider stocks selling for $5 a share or less as penny stocks). Penny stocks tend to be very risky to either trade or invest in for several reasons and there have been thousands of scams involving penny stocks over the years, like "pump and dump" scams or "short and distort" scams. Third, I did not learn or expect to learn much from this book. I got the book because I thought it would be full of lies and misrepresentations about penny stocks and it was my intention to expose both the author and the book as full of nonsense. Now to my review. This is an outstanding book. I give it 5 stars. The author (Peter Leeds) has a very good reputation and I know based on my own training, trading, investing and experience for over 30 years that what the author says and explains in the book is solid. No nonsense, no lies, no misrepresentations. The author candidly admits the risky nature of most penny stocks, and attempts to explain how to do fundamental analysis of the companies that have issued the penny stocks to separate the good from the bad. In the end, all movements in stock prices can be traced back to earnings, either actual, expected or speculated. The author explains how to investigate or "kick the tires" of the companies that have issued penny stocks to separate the junk companies from those that have real earnings and growth potential. The book consists of 15 chapters and is pretty comprehensive about explaining what fundamental analysis is (as opposed to technical analysis, which is more focused on the past and probable price movement of a stock in the short term than the company behind the stock). Chapter 1 is "Getting to Know Penny Stocks," Chapter 2 is "Deciding if Penny Stocks are Right for You," Chapter 3 is "Buying and Selling Penny Stocks," Chapter 4 is "Avoiding Promotions, Scams and Bribes," Chapter 5 is "Developing a Strategy," Chapter 6 is "Doing Your Research," Chapter 7 is "Picking a Winner," Chapter 8 is "Trading Strategies," Chapter 9 is "Fundamental Analysis," Chapter 10 is "Financial Ratios: Comparing Apples to Apples" (explains things like Price to Sales or P/S ratios, Quick Ratios, Current Ratios, etc.), Chapter 11 is "The Abstract Review in Penny Stocks," Chapter 12 is "Technical Analysis with Penny Stocks" (the author does not go deeply into technical analysis as it often does not work well or at all with penny stocks, the author explaining why in the book), Chapter 13 is "Ten Rapid Result Tactics," Chapter 14 is "Ten Trading Truths," and finally, Chapter 15 is "Ten Key Considerations for Companies."If you are managing your own investments, want to consider investing in penny stocks, and do not know much about funadamental analysis of penny stock companies or how to do it on your own (frankly if you are managing your own investments and do not know how to do fundamental analysis, you probably should not be managing your own investments), this is a good book to get you started. This book like most all the "Dummies" books is aimed more towards the beginner, not the person already an expert. The book speaks in plain English and is relatively easy to understand. I highly recommend it for those just getting interested or started. Another very pleasant surprise is that the author of the book, Peter Leeds, is pretty easy to find and contact on most social media platforms and he actually responds to people. This book would also be helpful if you are depending upon somebody else to alert you to good or high quality penny stocks, as your knowledge of how to do fundamental analysis would enable you to better research any alerts or recommendations you get (most of which come with something in the fine print warning you to do your own research or "due diligence").One other thing I should mention is that there are a few typos in the book. Nothing serious and nothing that changes meaning. I mention the matter only because some people like to play English teacher instead of book reviewer. Bottom line is 5 stars from me. Very surprised, and pleasantly so. But this book is not for everybody. If you are an experienced investor in penny stocks and know how to research or do fundamental analysis on companies issuing penny stocks, you probably have little need of this book. Likewise, if you want to just trade instead of invest in penny stocks, based on technical instead of fundamental analysis, this book will be of little help to you as only one chapter addresses technical analysis (and the author explains why technical analysis often does not work with penny stocks).

Decent
I personally don't get the all the great reviews. For me it was pretty basic and skirted around with a lot of fluff common knowledge information. Overall I'm glad i read it for the over view on investing and the deeper insight geared specifically towards penny stocks. But in the end, i would recommend one of the other trading for dummies books instead. The swing trading one being the best in my opinion.

Worth the Money
Before I read this book I only had a cursory knowledge about penny stocks. After reading this book I feel much more enlightened about penny stocks, both the pros and cons.If you are just starting out learning about penny stocks I heartily recommend this book. The writing style is very well done and there are only a few grammatical errors.Take the time to read this book slowly and let the information sink in and revisit or reread later to solidify it into your noggin'.Well worth the price. If you want to know more about penny stocks and strategies for picking ones that aren't duds or flat out frauds the info is definitely in it.

Very Resourceful Book for Beginners Seeking to Learn Penny Stocks
Penny Stocks for Dummies clears up most misconceptions about penny stocks. What is? What's not? The difference between the trading platforms, and the risks involved. As a novice, I found the work to be a great tool in developing an understanding. Definitely recommend the book to those seeking to learn from the ground floor up.

Feel comfortable about penny stocks!
Very informative book. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about penny stocks and learn that they aren't as scary as most people mak them out to be if you know what you're doing. After reading this book I feel that I can now make safe decisions with penny stocks. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that there are some typos here and there and sometimes the information isn't presented so professionally. (The typos for example) but hey, it's a for dummies book and it does its job extremely well. Pick this one up!

Good Basic Knowledge about investing in stocks--might not be for everyone.
I agree with the other reviewers that this book is a bit repetitive and overly-general. That's the problem when you are writhing on a general topic and you must consider a large range of knowledge levels. If you have traded stocks before or taken a college course in finance, this book might not be for you. If you know what a limit order is, this book might be a bit basic for you. For instance, on page 154 the author defines what is meant by the term "Assets" on financial statements. Much of the content might be classified as information about investing in stocks and business in general. On the other hand, I am sure there are some readers whom will find book helpful. There are a lot of folks who graduate from high school and college with very little financial literacy. We a say we are a capitalist country, but for reasons unknown, we don't teach anything to large portion of our public school students so that they can participate in allocating capital in our economy. It should be pointed out that the author also publishes a newsletter that highlights some of the 5% of small stocks which feels might be a good investment. But don't look at this fact as a big conflict of interest as publishing books to gain credibility in financial circles seems to be quite common.

A Very Helpful Book
A very useful book for all of us who want to invest in the risky small-cap stock market but at the same time minimize the risks involved. Don't let the "Dummies" tag fool you. This book will prove helpful to anybody trying to make money in this challenging type of investment, and includes important trading tips and the basics of analysis. A very good read too!

Penny Stock Education Starts Here
I am a complete novice when it comes to penny stocks (now if you wanted to know about cell phones then I can probably help). This book gave me the basic understanding that I was looking for. Peter helps with understanding what's what in the penny stock arena. This book was great for me to read because without reading it I would have lost a lot of money.
