wish I had 'em sooner
After having used these monitors for a month I'm pretty impressed with how my mixes translate on other speakers. My old monitors were Alesis Monitor Ones and some 70's JBL Century 100's. The Alesis are relatively flat but no real low end to speak of. The JBLs are hyped in the low and high end. I spent about a week with REW (room equalization software) in determining the best placement for my monitors- believe it or not a few inches difference in placement can make a big difference- to get the least amount of room interference and flatest response at my mixing location for the D8 speakers. The others speakers are clustered around the D8s. I found the D8s at my chosen location had a broad, low hump around 200 hz and a shallow valley between 7-8k hz. as indicated in the REW graphs. When mixing on the D8s I can separate the bass drum from the bass guitar much more easily and I'm careful not to add highs to any great degree (maybe 1-2 db on a track or two) knowing that they're already there, as indicated by playback on the other monitors. A good solid mix on the D8s at around 85-90 db levels results in a bright and beefy mix on the other two systems. I am not a "professional studio" but have been running live sound and have had a project studio for about 30 years. My equipment is a mix of pro and semi-pro: Mackie, Rane, Tascam, JBL, MOTU, and Reaper DAW software. The D8s are nice speakers and well worth the money.

Great clarity and stereo imaging, even in small, mostly untreated rooms. Worth much more than their list price.
I was in the market for new reference monitors, and couldn't ignore all the attention these were getting. All the reviews are nothing but positive, and they definitely live up to the hype. At this price range (and even higher), these definitely beat out a lot of the competition. Even in my awkwardly built and mostly untreated room, these monitors are very true to the recordings, and offer incredible clarity. The boundary switch (Corner, Wall, and Free Standing) are very helpful, especially in a small home studio like mine.I would highly recommend these monitors. And at the very least, anyone looking for mid level or even high level monitors should give these a shot. Equator's 60 day return policy is crazy good, and allows you to preview what they will sound like in your space. But you probably won't be returning them once you get your hands on them.

Phenomenal monitors
I just took possession of a pair of Equator D8 nearfield monitors. I'm primarily a guitar home player, so I was looking for a nice pair of nearfield monitors to amplify the AxeFX II that would give a true representation of the AxeFX II's capabilities as well as not break the bank.I have to say I'm very impressed by these monitors. They do a fantastic job of giving a true representation of the AxeFX II. As a bonus, they don't have the exaggerated low end that my old Atomic FRFR amps had; just tight bass, clear mids and highs. For 750 USD I couldn't be happier. Equator offers a 60 day unconditional money back guarantee, but these monitors aren't going anywhere.
