Hauptstadtkoffer Hand luggage Boardcase
This case ticked all the boxes and some more. Definitely " Vorsprung durch technik ".I was looking for a board size case, which was sturdy (did not want fabric type, as they get slashed to get into your case), of which they are many available on Amazon, but this one immediately caught my eye. Although red was not my first choice of colour but I thought maybe easier to spot in the event it had to go into the holdall of the plane. What a superb surprise when I opened the box and found a superbly made case, with a tasteful darker polished red case and at a fraction of the cost of many more . The quality of the shell is superb and the four wheel allowed a smooth rolling of the case on hard and soft floors. The case is also expandable to make it a full 25" which some airlines permit. The interior is extremely well laid out and designed. The interior is covered in a slightly cushioned material. One side of the case has the typical crossover elasticated straps to hold cloths securely in place. This side is also the expandable side. The other side of the case can also hold clothing or a laptop, secured by a sturdy material flap, which has a netted pocket and two extra slip pockets. When closed the case is secured with its built in combination lock.Simply amazing product at a really reasonable price given the quality and design. I happily recommend this case to any of my friends and family. I will be purchasing a bigger version shorlty

Broke on first journey & was then fobbed off by customer services
I bought this case due to the amazing reviews it had received. I loved it's bright colour and when it arrived, quite promptly, it looked even nicer "in the flesh" as the photos do not do justice to its brightness and high gloss finish. The case looked luxurious, was fantastically lightweight and felt like it had a good sturdy build quality.I flew to Malta for my wedding in September this year. The case was rolled on its wheels approximately 50-100 metres in Manchester and then a further 200m from the airport to the hire car in Malta. As I was lifting the case into the hire car I noticed a crack in the hard shell case around the wheel. The crack was full thickness and the wheel could be fully pushed into the case. I contacted the seller via e-mail the very next morning to report the problem and send various photographs of the damage. I felt fobbed off by the seller who simply informed me that, "the cases undergo rigorous testing and would not incur such damage through ordinary handling". They advised me that I would need to contact the airline regarding making a claim for the cost of the case as the seller could not accept responsibility and pay for damaged case.My wedding holiday was overshadowed by the stress of trying to sort out the damage and a replacement suitcase so that I could get my belongings home again. Ultimately, a lot of stress later, I finally received a refund for my case from Easyjet last week. Obviously this refund did not include the cost of postage and packaging that I had to pay to get my case originally sent out to me. I am now left out of pocket and in the situation where I need to purchase another case for my honeymoon. Although I loved this case when it arrived, and couldn't find any bad reviews regarding damaged cases on amazon, I am reluctant to purchase this brand of case again. It may well have been a faulty case out of a good batch to start off with, but knowing that the seller wouldn't accept any costs for damage incurred to the case, I'd have concerns regarding purchasing another one.

Updated: Excellent customer service, after handle broke
** UPDATED **Original review:Really annoyed as the handle for this suitcase has sheared off after 3 trips since I got it in December last year (< 8 months ago). Otherwise the case has been great - plenty of space inside, seemed good quality (except handle did always feel a bit flimsy but put this down to it being lightweight). This time, luckily it lasted until near the end of my trip, although I had to cross London on the underground (after returning from France on the Eurostar), rolling it as best I could as the case is a bit too difficult for me to carry with the handle for more than a few metres.I think the handle must have been defective as I have no subjected the case to anything out of the ordinary for a small, hand luggage-sized case. The handle firstly bent as I was rolling the case through the train station (I noticed when I tried to collapse the handle to carry it down some steps) and then as I pulled it a bit further on the flat, one side sheared off. I rolled the case upright, as far as I could, with the remaining side of the handle still attached but it eventually sheared off too. Otherwise the case is fine and I would like to keep using it, but not without a handle!I think it would be possible to replace the handle, if Amazon (?) can send me another, but I can't work out how to contact them (the deadline for the standard return has long since passed - but the case was not fit for purpose / of sufficient quality, so legally, I believe it should be possible to get a replacement or repair. Any advice on what to do next would be very gratefully received!***UPDATE A WEEK LATER:I emailed Hauptstadtkoffer (via the customer support email on their website) and they replied the same day, apologising for the broken handle and asking me to send a copy of my invoice and photos of the case, so they could dispatch a new handle asap. New handle unit arrived today, and it's a simple job to unscrew the old one from inside the case to replace it.Very impressed with Hauptstadtkoffer's customer service! Still, first handle shouldn't have broken so soon - must have been defective, so knocking a star off for that but otherwise it really is a super little case, sturdy, fits loads inside (even without using the expansion zip), stylish, and backed up with excellent customer service from the manufacturer.

Dimensions are not as advertised
The product page says "Dimensions with handles and wheels: 55 x 35 x 20 cm", but the product is actually 25 cm deep (see pictures for proof) which is too big. Very frustrated, we were specifically looking for a smaller suitcase that would work on inter-European airlines since we've had to check suitcases that are 25 cm before.
