A dimmer that works with high efficiency bulbs
*** SEE UPDATE FOLLOWING MY ORIGINAL REVIEW ****At our home we've been going through our home systems for a few years now trying to improve efficiency and reduce energy use. To that end, I've installed several dimmers and CFL and LED bulbs over the years. However, what I've found is that every once-in-a-while, as I replaced a failed CFL with an LED bulb I was losing my dimming function. After trying several dimmer switches and finding that they either didn't work at all with LEDs or else the dimming ranged from full on to full off with nothing in between, I'm glad to finally find a line that works well for us. Indeed, in our kitchen we currently have a mix of CFL floods with LED floods (these are replacements for the CFLs that have failed) and this dimmer handles that load with aplomb.**** UPDATE ****For a recent project I replaced under cabinet halogen lamps in our kitchen with a set of LED under cabinet lights. I found that when the new LED lamps were wired to this Lutron dimming switch, the LEDs were useful over a much wider dimming range compared to their being controlled by the previous, designed-for-incandescent dimmer switch I had been using. I also found that this Lutron did not cause any audible hum interference, while the previous switch (the one designed for incandescents) did cause some interference when the LEDs were dimmed very low. Lastly, I'll add that I realized that the wide dimming range the LEDs gave when controled by this Lutron made the conversion from halogen to LEDs even more worthwhile. That is, besides the benefits LEDs give due to their reduced energy consumption, using this dimmer made the LED upgrade an even better renovation due to the wider dimming range I experienced. In my limited experience gathered from upgrading the lights throughout our home to more energy-efficient lamps, I have found that one can get the even greater benefit from dimming LED lamps if the lamps are controlled by a dimming switch that is designed to work with LEDs. Thus, for maximum benefit from using dimming LED lamps, I suggest you consider also ensuring the controlling switch has the capability of working with LEDs.Here are some specifics about the lamps:The under cabinet lamps I installed were a mix of Morris Products 71264 Under cabinet Light 24" LED Hardwire, Morris Products 71252 Under cabinet Light 12" LED Hardwire, and Morris Products 71260 Under cabinet Light 18" LED Hardwire.

Solid, attractive and functions well
Its always amazed me how varying the intensity of lighting can completely change the appearance and mood of the same room. I recently replaced my under-cabinet kitchen lighting with newer LED fixtures that promised to throw much greater light than was there previously. Thats exactly what I wanted when working in the kitchen, but in the evening wanted to keep things subtle and toned down. A reviewer for the LED fixtures which I got here on Amazon, mentioned that they used this Lutron dimmer control and recommended it. Assembly was very straight forward. The switch has a clean look and is solidly built. The switch this one replaced had lost the plastic button that slides up and down, so I appreciated that this one's design was different and nothing can inexplicably pop off. I liked it so much, I ordered several more to replace the other older dimmer switches around the house. I suppose nothing makes a better recommendation than making a repeat purchase.

Good quality dimmer for any light bulb.
Bought this when my earlier dimmers would not work with LEDs - a slight glow due to the trace current that older dimmers required. Chose this design to match my fan speed controllers. This dimmer also allows me to preset the desired lighting level and then switch on and off. Also will allow three-way wiring when I install a bedside switch. Very pleased with this switch, bought three more and now each room has a double box with lighting and fan switches side by side.

I'm very happy with this dimmer
I'm very happy with this dimmer. It is installed along with four new recessed LED lights and two LED replacement lamps on the same circuit (different lamp types, companies). Works perfectly when full on, not quite uniform at half of range and less so at very bottom. As it turns out this isn't an issue for the layout of the kitchen, but worth noting when mixing lamps, lights on the same dimmer. It may not be possible to provide compatibility among different lamps and company products, so this shouldn't be held against the dimmer. Yet, it is worth noting and that's why there's less than perfect score: otherwise someone may overlook this review.

Solved a big problem!
This product has solved a number of problems with our lighting. We have all LeD bulbs in our house and we want to be able to dim them. we have run into major problems with combining them with dimmers that are suppose to work but dont. The lights either flicker or won't go off completely. this item has a sensitive control that allows you to set it so it won't flicker and it will let you take the light down to off. It solved a great problem. Check your packaging to see just what dimmer is used for your lights.

Nice but not for me.
This is nice unit but not what I needed for my home which uses wireless switches (I discovered after buying this) so gave it to family member.
