ATI Remote Wonder Original PC/MAC RF Remote Control (OEM)

Purchased after I saw the reviews saying that it could be made to work in Win7. After I received it, I read the instructions a little closer and then realized that the manufacturer does not make a driver, you have to combine several manufacturer drivers (including a vista one which I did not find on ati's website any longer). Other instruction on the internet say you also need a 3rd party driver pack from a x10 (home automation), but every link to it was an old ftp site they X10 no longer runs and I was not able to locate it on their website. I admit I did not spend a lot of time looking for a solution (less than 20 minutes), but if I have to look that hard, it's not worth it. Bottom line, if you are running Win 7 look elsewhere. I ended up purchasing this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00224ZDFY/ and was recognized immediately and just worked automagically. I gave it 2 stars because it may work great in XP.

Bought as a remote to let my kids control XBMC. They broke my $100 gyration remote and I wanted an RF replacement. The mouse causes XBMC to crash so I disabled it. The buttons don't always work - the remote seems to need to warm up with a few key presses when it hasn't been used in a few minutes. It does the job but when it breaks I'll probably try something else.

I know this product is excellent when functioning as I have owned one before. I thought I could recreate that magic this time around, however, this remote does not have any available drivers for Windows 7 64bit. After much time spent searching for and trying different methods of getting this product to work, I ended up purhasing a different remote. I will update later on how that one works out.

Poor remote. Slow and laggy to respond. Hard to use. The giant button on top is not for the four arrows (up down left right) instead it moves the mouse. The four arrows (most used feature on any remote, period) are tiny and hard to press. Skip this one. The range sucks as well.

My computer is Used for multimedia. I have 3 monitors including my 51 inch hi def tv, and a 7.1 surround system. I have thousands of tv episodes and movies and songs on my computer and I didnt like having to run to my computer every time I needed to turn it down or pause it. I have not messed with ANY of the programeable stuff on this remote but when you plug it in and install it the volume automatically controls the system volume and the pause button will pause anything on windows media player so it does what I need it to do and I couldnt ask for more.

Never installed right on my Win 7 HTPC, even using the tips in the other reviews.When I finally got it working, the RF did not work through a wall, which is the entire point of RF.

I don't know how old this remote is, but its Power PC compatible only so it won't work on any new Mac. Don't bother buying if your a mac user.
