Quality, true unpaid review
I am writing this review to talk about this product. After dealing with a problem oven for years, I was just so so surprised at this oven. It’s a great size, it’s pretty, works great!!!I looked at used ovens on marketplace, I ask myself why these prices? Used-$200.00! This oven was less than 170.And, omg!! The way it defrosts!!This oven is like the shy little newcomer kid at school. But when he stood up to speak, this big voice came out! This is not a cheap, flimsily oven. It’s built well, child lock on door, bit hard to get used to, but I did in a couple of days. There is nothing bad I can say. It’s a great, powerful oven and I don’t think anyone could go wrong.

Stylish and actually works well!
Perfect fit for our kitchen! I love the preset options and it reheats things so quickly. The defrost option also works very well. Just make sure to click "cancel/stop" before opening the door those few seconds before the timer (which can be muted) goes off - otherwise it does beep a few times over a couple minutes to remind you.

Best microwave I've owned (except for the heated chemical smell)
This is overall the best microwave I've owned. It not only heats food, but cooks full meals really fast and evenly. The 1250 watts do make a difference! Also, it does not dry out food, nor does it leave water in the bottom under the turntable, as my previous one (not a Toshiba) did when I boiled anything. The venting works really well, so there is no huge accumulation of water inside. I like that it has a cooling function after cooking is completed, where the fan continues to run if the inside is very hot. Also, it runs incredibly quietly, which is very pleasant if you're listening to audio while cooking. And it has good seals -- no interference with radio or cell phone frequencies, even if I'm sitting right next to it.The only reasons I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 are:(1) There was a very strong odor of overheated plastic or glue when I cooked anything for a long period of time (even with plenty of water in the dish). I tried another reviewer's suggestion of boiling a bowl of water with vinegar or lemon juice for a long stretch of time. That helped somewhat, but left a trail of brownish residue on the inside back wall (melted glue?). Even so, after several weeks of daily hard use, the odor is still there, though it's not nearly as strong as at first. Still, it works so well in every other way that I decided to keep it.(2) Large parts of the instruction manual are obviously written by someone whose English skills are minimal; they simply don't make clear sense. Fortunately, the essential safety instructions at the beginning are clear and in good English, but not some of the more detailed instructions on how to use the microwave. I can't believe that an international company this size doesn't have a single English-speaking technical writer on board!Overall, I'm satisfied and would buy it again.

Finally a quality device among the pile of tin cans
This microwave finally a solid device with great features for home use. Forced into using Panasonic for prior microwave ovens and they were terrible and sounded like a tin can with a jet engine inside and they would ultimately fail if you tried to cook something in them beyond 4 minutes. This Toshiba is like a Lexus compared to a cheap compact car. Even the door shuts nicely just like a higher end car. When it is running at times I have to confirm it is actually on because it is so quiet. I have never seen a microwave that is that quiet. The controls are fairly intuitive although there is always a learning curve on new devices like these. But other brands build in user logic that makes no sense and just gets in the way. Not this one.And the power of it is amazing. We had to relearn what times to use for various foods because this device will turn things to molten lava on the settings from prior microwaves with the same output wattage. A good problem to have after some minor adjustments.Maybe we got lucky but it seems that someone put some thought and brainpower into this design and manufacturing. I have no idea what the competitors are doing except applying simple formulas to come up with the lowest priced, counter intuitive, flimsily built, and short lived device. I would be embarrassed if I were them. This one is a keeper.

NOT an inverter microwave with continuous power levels!
This is NOT an inverter microwave with continuous power levels! It's just like any other microwave that turns the full power on and off periodically for lower power levels. I was replacing my Panasonic inverter microwave because of a problematic door. I got this, and placed a slice of cheese on a plate at power 1 as I would in the Panasonic. The Panasonic would slowly and evenly warm the slice without melting it - that is a TRUE low power. This Toshiba BOILED THE CHEESE IN SECONDS ON THE LOWEST POWER SETTING!I'm returning it. Buyer beware - if you're expecting a the continuous true power levels of an inverter microwave, look elsewhere. I'm guessing ALL of the Toshiba so called "inverter" microwaves are like this.In case you were wondering, I did verify this unquestionably. I measured the external microwave emissions with a spectrum analyzer and it was at FULL POWER WHEN SET TO THE LOWEST POWER SETTING. At power level 1, it just runs full power for several seconds and then no power for a longer period of time - like the junky microwaves have since the 1980's.To make it worse, the annoying beeper cannot be shut off like it can on many other microwaves today. I searched deeply and experimented and I'm virtually certain there is no way by using any button combination.
