Disney's Series: Mary Poppins

What can I say? I love Mary Poppins and I love karaoke. This karaoke cd, being produced by Disney, and not some other company using synthesized music, is beautiful. The quality is perfect and it sounds exactly like the movie soundtrack.

I bought this and several others in the Disney Karaoke Series to add to my karaoke library. As with the other Disney Karaoke Series titles, it includes 8 songs, two versions of each, with and without the vocals (16 tracks total). Because I bought this only for the karaoke aspect (CD+G), I cannot comment on the vocal versions which are not performed by the original Mary Poppins cast.Songs are Solos and Duetsfor Male and Female1. Let's Go Fly a KiteThis is one of the best in the Disney Karaoke Series! The backing music sounds straight out of the movie. I hear (I think?) real strings, and winds, even the robin whistling along with Mary Poppins during "Spoonful of Sugar." I know this soundtrack by heart, and I'm amazed at how accurate this, very well done (Practically Perfect!). I only wish there were another disc that included the rest of the songs from the movie: "Sister Suffragette" "The Perfect Nanny" "The Life I Lead" and "Step in Time" to name a few.

My kids (9 and 11) have lots of fun with this. The instrumental portions appears to be from the original sound track, including the background singing (e.g., 'Feed the Birds). However, the foreground vocals are not Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. The female is pretty darn good. At first, I thought it was Julie A (it's not). The male is clearly not Dick Van Dyke and while he is good enough, it is just not the same as Van Dyke. That said, it is a great Karaoke CD.

Mary Poppins has been my favorite movie since I first saw it in 1973. The wonderful music of Disney inspired me to enter a music career. I've greatly enjoyed the restoration of these great movies and their music over the past ten years or so. I throughly enjoy the complete score-only feature of "The Sound of Music" dvd and this is the Disney equivalent. There's no end to the thrill of hearing this wonderful original score, arranded and conducted by Irwin Costal, in it's digitally restored brilliance. This makes me anxiously await the two disc soundtrack to be released for the film's 40th anniversary. Three cheers to the producers and to Disney for giving this original music the attention it deserves.

Perfect 2 Help ME With A Song For My Voice Lessons

I read the description and I knew this wasn't the real Disney version of the songs, but the versions and packaging inside and the inside insert are disappointing. Hard to read for one thing. Learned my lesson.

The only way in which I wish this were different is if it had the entire soundtrack to "Mary Poppins," rather than a selection of songs. With that said, it works well in my Singing Machine. The lyrics show up well, and it's nice to have both vocals and instrumentals. I thought that I could sing all of the songs on it without training, but I quickly switched to the vocals as I don't sound much like Dick Van Dyke at all.

My 3 year old loves every song on this disk.To be clear, the "format" according to Amazon is incorrect. It really is a karaoke CDG. That means it does not play like a normal CD but it does play like CDG, or karaoke disk is supposed to play.We do wish it had this small song from early in the movie were the children are reading their requirements for a new nanny, but the rest are there and they are all great.

Great for a kids singalong or if the drink is flowing on a karaoke night.
