ChloraPrep 3ml Sponge Applicator (Box of 25)

These are the same swabs used in the hospital after my husband had open heart surgery, just with a different applicator. The home care instructions said just wash his incision with soap and water, but the instructions also said no scrubbing, and we weren't comfortable with such a low level of care. We ordered these. Each swab is for a single use; squeeze the tabs, shake down the solution, gently press onto the incision or wound, and slowly run the applicator pad over it in one direction. It's important not to rub back and forth, so you don't spread possible bacteria around into places you've already cleaned. I would feel great about using this for any surgical incision. The price per swab is very worth it. We used two per day, and then only one as his incision healed.One thing to note is that the only seller available at the time, Johnson Distributors, was terrible. The box the swabs came in was literally the ChloraPrep box with a UPS sticker stuck to it, no brown box packaging or protection. It was beat up and torn, nearly with the swabs poking out. Arriving like that, if they weren't sold in individual plastic wrappers, I never would have used them. Shipping took forever, though, so I was also desperate by the time they arrived. It looks like better sellers are available now, so please use them.

My husband had open heart surgery with five bypasses in April, 2013. To clean his incision ChloraPrep Sponge Applicators were used daily in the hospital. At discharge,the nurses said for me to use soap and water to clean the incision. I tried this the first day home and was not satisfied that I had cleaned the incision entirely, as I was terrified to press down on the incision. After my first wash I decided to buy ChloraPrep. I tried several pharmacies who said they did not have this in stock, but could order this product for me. I decided to check Amazon thinking that they would not have something this medical, but they did. I ordered it and have used it daily. His doctors are amazed at how good his incision has healed and how good it looks. This product was definitely worth the price as it gave me peace of mine knowing that what I was doing was healing my husband's heart.

I got a staph infection from back surgery one year a couple years back from the hospital after a week out. I was told at the hospital these were the best thing to battle infection and clean the wound. I got a full scoliosis surgery done and it kept my skin clear and the wound in great shape. No complaints on them. They were easy to use and my wife had an easy time using them. This wound also healed faster than all of my other surgeries and it was the biggest scar. In two weeks I was able to not have a bandage on my back. It really was an excellent investment.

These worked great for me! I recently had open heart surgery and was sent home with some chloraprep swabs but I ran out. I found these on amazon and its the same thing judt different applicator. I used the whole box and have received lots of compliments on how good my scar looks. If you are worried about infection, I highly recommend these!

Bought these for my weekly dressing changes. Was advised to use Chloraprep over alcohol swabs for better cleansing & prepping for new dressing change on 'Chronic' wounds like PIIC lines and chest lines for IV therapies. I have never had an infection, now 3yrs & counting.

Works wonderfully, very easy to use. Wish it cost a bit less.... but it is worth the price.

We have been receiving this product included in a dressing kit by prescription. In the kit the applicator is not separately packaged and I am happy to now have it once again in a sterile package.This is a perfect way to clean and sterilize a body area.
