Q: Have these been dried at such high heat to produce an unequivocally burnt flavor ?

Berries are not dehydrated at high heat. The flavor depends on how they are prepared. When properly prepared, they are delicious. Fresh off the plant, they do not taste good at all, plus they are said to toxic if not cooked.

Q: Are these grown in the usa or europe?

The package says they are processed and packaged in California but doesn’t say where they are grown.

Q: I.m looking for elderberries to make elderberry pie. Can these be used for this?

I don't think so. They are dry and hard. Harder than packaged raisins. I think people pour boiling water on them to make tea.
