Wish I'd bought one sooner
Noisy is my only criticism.Great working item I've used it to dry fruit for the famiky and make dehydrated meat treats for the dog. Wish I'd bought one sooner! Saves me a fortune in dog training treats and me and my kids are living the apple and cinnamon snacks.

Makes Jerky very easily and good for drying 3D printer filament.
So I bought this to dry 3D printer filament as it's very cheap. However, as I know lots of you guys actually want to use it to make jerky I made jerky with it. As far as drying 3D printer filamant it was a no brainer and works well. Leave the bottom plastic tray and the lid intact and clip out the centers for the trays in between.Making jerky was also very easy. When you buy your meat it should have as little fat as possible as more fat means that it goes off easier and doesn't dry as easy. After drying the weight of your meat will be 1/3 of the original weight. I would suggest beef for your first jerky as its safer than the other meats. It was the first time I'd done beef jerky so I did a little research first as I didn't want to get food poisoning. I bought 1.5kgs of fillet quality beef. First I placed the meat for 1 hour in the freezer to make it slightly easier to cut. I cut it up into strips of 5mm thickness and then cut those so that they were 20mm width. Always make sure that you cut your strips across the grain of the meat so that when it's dry it will break easily in your teeth. For a marinade I used two flavours. One was Nandos hot sauce (actually that was really good). The other was a mix of smoked paprika, worcester sauce , salt, pepper and sugar. I divided the meat into two sets with half the strips for one flavour and other half for the other flavour and marinated them separate containers in the fridge for 5 hours. Now to the actual drying part. Most US government instructions say to heat to 80C before or heat to 120C after drying. I chose to heat the strips of meat in two disposable separate trays per flavour at 110C in the oven first for 10 minutes and then laid the strips in the dryer for 7 hours. At the end of the 7 hours I put the jerky in the oven again at 120C for 10 minutes to make sure that it hadn't picked up any pathogens before or after (don't forget that the meat is raw). (Note that if you have a religion that forbids you from eating raw meat the preheating actually cooks the meat.) The result was good and tasted as good or better than factory made jerky. Though remember that the jerky that you make isn't necessary that much cheaper it will have better quality and you can choose any meat and flavour that you like. Hope this helped guys. BTW You can store it in small bags in the freezer and it defreezes in a minute or 2 as there is no moister that has been frozen. I ate the jerky in a couple of days, really good (slurp!).

Horrible bitter tasting experience
So far from batches of mango, banana, orange, apple and carrot, everything tastes of bitter burnt plastic. We’ve tried different temperatures, monitored the timings, used diluted lemon, not used diluted lemon, watched videos, washed the trays in hot soapy water, the dishwasher, but always the same revolting bitter nuclear taste. Will be returning as I am not certain it is working correctly.
