Little Learners: Slide & See 'I Can Share'

The book is easy for children to be involved in the reading and understanding of each page

I'm very happy with this book. It is really well made and appealing with good quality thick pages, a nice padded cover, and very cute illustrations all featuring different animals on each page.The novelty aspect of this book is the pull out tabs and I found they are easy to use even for young children, even if they handle them slightly roughly they are very robust which is not the case with all pull the tap, lift the flap type of books which you can get for toddlers. It has 4 of the pull out tabs but they all have something on both sides, so it is more like 8.The content of the book is about manners. Not just sharing but saying "hello" to others, waiting your turn, answering nicely and those type of things.I was mainly attracted because of the content because these things are important! my 3 year old has become a bit shy and doesn't like to say hello to others these days, so I thought this book might be a good reminder in a fun way. Although it is aimed at 1+ and might think its only for young toddlers I think it is quite good for all of mine, who are aged 3 years, 2 years and an 8 months baby. It's good that its a very hard wearing book so can be left easily accessible for all of them, without worrying about the baby destroying it as it is not ripable or tearable.Overall I found it really nice and would recommend

Children's books can be quite static and the interactive element is brought about by the adult reading and pointing enthusiastically. This children's book which is part of a series (Little Learners Slide & See)Little Learners: Slide & See 'I Feel Happy' falls into the category of interactive involvement through use of the tabs which I have shown in my pictures. The 3 internal book pages are made of a rigid, durable, multi layered card with pockets for the pull out slider pages and are constructed from a thick, rigid card. The cover is rigid with a padded feel. The theme of the book is sharing, playing nicely, listening and good manners. Quantifying the book as a parent to an 18 month girl I would say out of all the books she has and we have quite a few, this one makes her beam with delight when she sees it and I would say that the sliders really are the main reason but not the only reason. Our daughter has a very dexterous and gentle touch,a factor that I think is important for enjoyment. The other reason would be the content and the pictures. She really enjoys it all and its the first book that we have used that she tries to mimic reading by repeating the words and pointing at them. There are a lot of good books for children available but at the moment this rates as being the one our child thinks is the very best

This short, eight-page book has a nice padded cover and four, double-sided pull-out sliders (two tabs protrude from the top and two from the right-hand edge). The animal artwork is simple and cheerful, and the book conveys eight lessons in being considerate and polite (saying "good morning", sharing toys, saying "thank you", etc.).The content of each slider is complimentary to the content of the associated page. However, this is not always consistent; most are fairly natural pairings (good morning/good night, I can play with others/I can play on my own, hello/goodbye), but then there's "I can wait my turn"/"I can share", which don't really pair very well. I doubt many children would be too fazed by this though!My one concern is that this book can easily be damaged by a smaller child (I have witnessed this happening very quickly on another edition from the same series). The sliding inserts can be a bit tricky to push back in straight, and any significant leverage on them (out of the plane of the page) causes the page to come unglued. This can easily be repaired with a bit of sellotape, but this fragility is not ideal. I doubt many public libraries will be stocking this one. Either close adult supervision or restricting access to children of at least 18 months old is recommended.

I was looking forward to receiving this as I am hooked on children's books. This is a lovely little book (measures; 17 x 17cm excluding pull-out tabs). The book has a padded cover.The concept of teaching your child to share is a good one, as young children aren't wired to share for the first few years as they see themselves as the centre of the universe.There are chunky card pages and each one had a pull-out tab with extra text which adds the message. An adult will pull them out for younger children and then the child will enjoy pulling them out and reading the text themselves. The pictures of animals in different situations are colourful and fun and the text bold and easy to follow. There are only a few pages, but the words, pictures and tabs add an extra dimension and will entertain children, as it did our little volunteer!Each page shows a different scenario all linked to sharing and being polite and thoughtful. 'I Can Share' is part of the Little Learners series of books. I would recommend.

I Can ShareLittle Learners CollectionThis adorable little book, which is for age 1 + children, has a lovely smooth, soft feel to the (easy wipe clean) card pages, a boon for little sticky fingers.Each page has easy pull tags for the little one to pull out, revealing a further picture applicable to the page, thereby keeping the child's interest. Unlike similar books of this nature, these pull out tags are also made of strong card, so they won't tear which, in itself, would have warranted an extra star on top of my 5 star rating!!!.The pictures are bold and bright to catch the child's eye and the content message of teaching the child how to share is told by loveable animals - a different one for each message and, as mentioned before, each page has a corresponding pull out tag to involve the child even further.I would thoroughly recommend this book, not only for home use, but for use a nursery. A book for parents and child professional alike. Truly wonderful !
