Backstory: Been playing guitar for about a decade now and recently switched over to Bass Guitar for the convenience of not having to carry so much stuff. Bought this product SOLELY for that purpose. I originally bought the VT bass DI pedal but didn't like it. I had heard from a couple friends that the RBI was the way to go and WOW were they right. This thing is AMAZING. The tones that come out of this thing sound 90% similar to a full rig setup. Granted, you would need a good PA +subwoofer at a live venue to really get the most out of this thing, but it works FANTASTIC for DI recording. My rehearsal space has a sub-par PA and it still sounds really really good on there.

Top Tier Bass Tone
It’s not often the case that you can buy a top tier item for a music equipment category for such a cheap price. This is what pros use in studios, and it’s only $325. I missed my opportunity on getting an Aphex Aural Exciter for $350, which is also a top tier item for its category, and now they don’t make them anymore. Don’t miss out.

Delivery was the only issue.
The preamp rocks. But has damage from delivery there were holes in the box where the amp broke through. Cosmetic damage from not enough protection in the OEM box. I am not returning it as it works well and I need it for a multiple gig tour. We all know in the end these end up with dings and scratches anyway. I bought it to replace an old Randall preamp that just gave up the ghost. I like this unit. Many options in sound. I now can just input direct from my bass as the onboard preamp is no longer needed. I'm running this preamp through 2 peavey cs800 amps 1993 model biamped into 2 peavey 1516s speakers 1988 models updated blackwidows with (1)15" and (2) 8" with alisis midiverb effects.

Excellent quality for the price
Great addition to my recording studio for laying down bass tracks, excellent sound quality in various adjustments so that it always doesn’t sound like the same bass, very versatile.

Tech 21 SansAmp RBI
This is a powerful piece of gear. It is much more powerful and much more sensitive than the pedal versions of the Sans Amp Bass Driver DI's. Using it as a direct box, it sends a very powerful, clear signal to the board/front of house. The tone shaping controls are sensitive as well. Plan to spend some time with it getting your sound through the amp and to the board. Once you do, you'll never go back to the stomp box DI's.

SOUNDS AMAZING !
Purchased this used and in “good condition “.The way that it was packaged made it so there was very little protection on the front and back of the item so this damaged the rear AC plug. The sound of the amp itself was great but the rear plug being loose was a fire hazard and a shock hazard.

Great bass tone
You can tell a huge difference between the dry signal and the active Sans Amp unit. Sounds like an Ampeg. Totally blew my sound guy’s mind. Very good investment

Surprisingly Good
I’m an old school cat who believes in tube amps, but this piece of gear is punchy, has good sustain and very versatile. Highly recommend.
