The best of the Rotomolded coolers. Made in USA
I did not buy mine here. I actually got mine as a package deal with some dewalt tools, but mine is the same as the small 35 cooler here, just in a different color and the dewalt name on it. I've spent a lot of time around rotomold coolers. They really aren't out of this world better than a regular cooler as far as ice retention and hard to justify the added cost. But when you consider their durability they may eventually pay for themselves as you'll never need to buy another small cooler. This is the kind of cooler that can take a beating for many years. If you take good care of it and it doesn't get stolen you'll have it for the rest of your life. Mine also came with a lifetime warranty so there is added peace of mind there. I have a small RTIC cooler that is great and have plenty of experience with yetis. There are three things that I think you should consider with this cooler. 1. Price. It is competitive with the other rotomold coolers of similar size. 2. Lightweight. Cordova advertises that they use a different insulation material that is lighter and more efficient. I believe it. It is noticeably lighter than a similar size yeti but seems to hold ice about the same (there are plenty of articles and youtube videos comparing ice retention but really most brands hold ice about the same for similar sizes so don't waste your time). 3. Made in the USA and seems to be top quality. Most of the other coolers are made in China. It is impressive that they can remain competitive on price while manufacturing a quality product. They are made in Nampa, Idaho.Other things to be aware of: the top of the cooler is not completely flat but has ridges probably so that things don't fall off if you set them on top of it. I actually prefer this to my RTIC that has a totally flat top. It is still comfortable enough to use as a chair when you really need it. It is also plenty sturdy to stand on without the slightest worry of damaging it. It could probably hold the weight of a horse without bending. This cooler is relatively small. Won't hold a lot of stuff. I actually prefer to have multiple small coolers as opposed to one or two larger coolers but this size is kind of an in-between size. I think most would prefer a larger size for most uses, but it works good for me.This cooler has good rubber feet on the bottom that seem to be very well attached to the cooler. They keep it from sliding around much on a flat surface like the back of a truck. The rubber feet on my rtic cooler sometimes detach and I have to put them back on which is annoying.the cooler says it is certified bear resistant. I believe it is completely airtight when shut so that may make it difficult for a bear to smell what is inside. It is also obviously very sturdy. Would be hard for a bear to open it if it were locked or bolted shut.ALso be aware that the rubber closing handles are attached to the cooler and not the lid. This is backwards from some other coolers but I like it better as they are out of the way and easier to open when the cooler is surrounded by other things in the back of my truck.Only two negatives I can think of: 1. the drain isn't totally on the bottom so unless you tilt the cooler it will leave about 1/2 inch of water on the bottom. Not a big deal but my rtic cooler has a sloping drain so that basically every drop of water will drain when you pull the plug. Not a big deal to me because I bought a bunch of ice packs and prefer to use those instead of ice. 2. The bottom side of the lid protrudes down about 1/2 inch into the cooler. See the picture. So you can't fill it completely to the brim or you will be unable to close the lid. I'm guessing this actually helps insulate better but it was a little annoying to have to remove some things after I filled it up the first time.
