Not an exact fit to the older Craftsman Shop Vacs 9-17816
Filters are good, very good. Better media than the originals and I think they will last a long time. Fit is the issue. Each filter has an internal 3/4" shaft extension that prevents the filter from sealing against the base of the motor housing. If you trim it off, they work perfect. A dremel tool is recommended with a cutting wheel. Put painters tape around the base of the filter inside to prevent the shavings from sticking to the filter media as you cut the extension off. They will fit without this modification, but the holding nut will only go on for half of its threads and I am not confident about the seal at the base.

Perfect fit, need original nut to secure.
Securing nut provided with the unit would not hold filter as it does not have any threads to attach to the threaded lug on the vacuum. I had the original nut that came with the vacuum and it held the filter securely. If you do not have the nut a washer and standard nut would probably do fine. Other than the nut issue the filters fit perfectly.

Retainer nut incorrect
The nut supplied will tighten down but does not retain the filter, you will discover this when you empty the vac, find the filter laying in the bottom and the motor full of whatever you have been vacuuming up. Also if like me you tossed the old nut wen you installed this filter with the one provided and are about to go on a Sears excursion seeking the CORRECT stuff

These fit my older 16 gal. Craftsman Shop Vac
3 day delivery w/Prime. Very reasonably priced filters that were a perfect fit replacement for the #17816. The old plate isn't being used (and hasn't been for my last two replacements) or the round nut with a tab. the nut cap included with the filters is holding the filter on securely, we'll see how long they last but so far, so good. The filter manufacturing appears to be of good quality. I'll update this review after I've used one for a while, I use my Vac a LOT. I initially highly recommend.

I was paying $19.00 for one and the quality was very poor they did not last very long I was very impressed with the quality of these filters they are a much heavier filter I’m sure I will get twice the life expectancy out of these. Only paid a little bit more for two than I was paying for just one awesome deal!

Is NOT a form & fit replacement for 17816
Be aware that this product (at least the two I received) is NOT a form and fit replacement for the 17816 filter. In fact, the box lists all the filter types that it will fit and 17816 is NOT on the list. The problem is the externally threaded cylindrical structure in the center of the closed end of the filter (as show in the vendor's own images), is just a tad too high to engage the plastic nut on the post, which holds the filter on.The good news is that you can use a Dremel-type tool to carefully cut part way down on the cylinder. Carefully leave the part just below the threads to ensure that the plastic nut will still seal, and not allow an escape path for the air.

Craftsman 16 gallon wet / dry vac
Needed filter(s) for the wet/dry vac 16 gallon older model. I also needed to be able to secure the filter onto the vacuum. These filters fit the bill. Dusty basement with "the ever anticipated flooding" from a "climate change storm" uh-huh, I received my filters immediately installed the filter onto the vac and ordered another set.

great alternative filter at an affordable price
These filters fit my craftsman shop vacuum perfectly and are great value of money as they are cheaper than the craftsman brand. They provide as much , or better, suction power and they seem a lot stronger than the regular craftsman brand. I use a small shop brush to tap the ends of the filter to release dust stuck between the pleats. The craftsman filters tended to buckle over time but these hold their shape.
