Best Ventura reference for the money
For the money, this is easily the best single reference on the Ventura/Harpoon, an important but often-overlooked aircraft. This book gives an overview of all Ventura variants, along with a brief operational history of each type. There are about eighty B&W photos on the 47 pages, along with twenty-one line drawings illustrating aircraft profiles and details. Also featured is the usual centerfold of ten color aircraft profile drawings. The major weakness - and I say this from a modeler's standpoint - is the lack of interior photos. There is just one, and it's of the cockpit of the British version. Steve Ginter's "Naval Fighters' volume on the PV-1/PV-2 is much more comprehensive, but you'll pay three or four times as much as this offering from Squadron/Signal. Otherwise, this book is the best place to start if you want to learn more about Lockheed's Ventura.

Nice detail, good fit, fairly easy to build
This is a fun model to build. It has fairly good detail and the parts fit together with no issues. Compared to a lot of kits I've built lately, the direction for this model are very good. I highly recommend this model if you want to build a nice looking Ventura.

Excellent quality model.
A life-long friend of mine's father flew these in WWII. I bought this and took a lot of time painting and finishing this model accurately for her. I then placed it into a diorama created in a small display case. It looks like it's waiting for the crew to arrive and fly it out of its Pacific island base. Excellent kit for one of the unsung hero aircraft of WWII.

One you might not know about...
Another volume of the Aircraft in Action series, this on an aircraft not always well known. The usual coverage of inception, early stages and various variants plus details on camouflage and markings.

Eh.
Looks like someone either folded or sat on the spine of this book. But my own fault for purchasing Used. At least it looks like a great book & my son will enjoy it

Lots of info and Pics
Very concise and informative. Great reference source. The book was listed as used but was more in a "like new" condition. Very happy with this purchase.

Great review on a Little Known Plane
The sleek & sexy P-38 and a host of other glamour planes by Lockheed over shadowed many other attention deserving planes such as the Ventura. Ordered by the British for a medium bomber. The Vetura was a development of the civilian Lodestar. The Navy adapted this as a Patrol bomber and used it very successfully in the Aleutians (bombing the Kurulies Islands), Phillipines, Central & Southwest Pacific as well as the Altantic theaters. Over 2100 were built (including the larger, slower Harpoon PV-2 which is also covered in this book). This is an excellent book for modelers, aviation buffs who want to see this capable, compotent, reliable aircraft. The text covers the history & development of the plane through its service in the varied theaters. Line drawings, clear & crips B&W photos show the adaptations of armament, 2 pages of color drawings show the paint schemes used. Since other Mediums such as the B-25 Mitchell and B-26 Maurader got more press, planes like these don't get as much coverage in books. The In Action helps address this & fills a nitch. For those interested in the operation conditions in which some of these crews fought, check out The Last Flight of Bomber 31, the true story of the Aleutians campaign.
