No links come with it
Big beads for bigger applications. Who knew these came in multiple sizes? Too big for a celing fan chain, but I suppose I'll find a use for it eventually. For now, it's in the art can for a fun future project. Too bad it didn't come with some links to connect it to other chains. Seems more like a few would be granted in the purchase.

No more Rusted chains on solar shade
My solar shades were inoperable due to rusted chains that raise and lower the shades. Ordered 50 ft stainless steel chain for 4 shades - perfect amount - for Underb $20. The order arrived the following day and we solved the issue.

Number 10 Size
This is number ten 304 stainless steel ball chain. Each ball should be 0.175inch or 4.5mm. An AVERAGE of 48 balls per foot, 48 is not an absolute number. Not sure why it says 45 pounds tensile strength, that is commonly the strength listed for carbon steel or yellow brass #10 ballchain. Stainless should be able to hold 100 pounds of weight, more than double that of carbon steel. Stainless is the strongest material commonly available in ball chain. Add to that corrosion resistance, and this is the best #10 ballchain you can buy. ( I often find errors in these listings, and I believe this 45lb rating is an error, it should be 100lb.) There was a bag of ten connectors in the package, which is not in the listing, another error.Number ten size is commonly used for things like... swatch sample retention (carpet and tile samples) or certain plumbing applications.Your ceiling fan or light pullchain or toilet flapper chain is usually #6 (20 lb), sometimes #8.Vertical blinds or basin stoppers usually use #8 (65lb). Sometimes #10.Anything bigger than that and you're talking industrial or artistic applications. Sometimes people make shimmery curtains out of this stuff.

Perfect for my needs
I am a tech guy and love all kinds of science. My 6yo daughter is learning to love science as well. When I saw this, I had to order it for a fun science display. Enter, the self-siphoning phenomenon,From Wikipedia:"The chain fountain phenomenon, also known as the self-siphoning beads, Mould effect, or Newton beads is a physical phenomenon observed with a chain placed inside a jar. One end of the chain is pulled from the jar and is allowed to fall under the influence of gravity."The result is, once the end outside of the cup, glass, or jar has sufficient weight, gravity pulls the rest of the ball chain out of the container. This results in the chain not actully touching the side of the container, and in our tests, it reaches a height of about 6-inches above the edge of the container! It's a very cool, easilly repeatable, experiment that can assist with teaching and learning about different scientific laws and principles. As for the product itself, it is very well made. the beads are smooth and well connected, and the resulting chain is very flexible. I think it is a bargain for 50-feet of this quality bakk chain.

Decent chain, but only at price parity (see details). Recommended
The LinHomguy Ball Bead Chain, #10 Stainless Steel (4.5mm with Spool, 50ft) is an ok deal at $26 (with 10% off, at the time of this review). The quality is basically the same as what you'd find at your local hobby or craft store. The main appeal is that you can get this delivered to your door, rather than have to brave crazy and inattentive drivers. Recommended

Works great for steam punk animated sculptures
I'm using it in a steampunk sculpture in place of where I would normally have to use a drive belt between the stepper motor and the armature. So far I've been able to apply the amount of tension I need to drive the mechanism without the chain. The actual ball diameter is 4.59 mm on average which means that modeling a capstan for this chain is simple. I'm happy to report that not a link has broken of it's own accord, but the metal is soft enough that you can easily cut it at a joint into smaller sections. If you are into cosplay, the ball size is too big for dog tags unless you are comically oversizing them. If your going for that look, use a 2mm ball.

Works with 3D printed pulley
Or maybe it would be called a sprocket? I printed it in 2 halves so I had no overhangs and it is working with a stepper motor and no skipping balls. Which is great because I have quite a bit left over, another stepper and some pulleys and I can open the blinds or lower the movie screen. Cuts pretty easily with side cutter pliers.
