The Phoenix Bride: A Novel

This is my first romance novel, which I read because I'd heard that it was well-written and provided a good account of the historical period in which it's set. Unfortunately, it was poorly written, with characters and dialogue that were not credible and bordered on the absurd. Some of the historical detail was interesting, as were the social situations and conflicts.
