SmartLabToys DJ Rock Dock

Bought this for my 9-year old son and he and I built it together. Construction is fairly simple so that he could have done it himself. There is one set of electrical components and two boxes that only differ in design so you can build it a couple times if you wish. I doubt Stereophile will be reviewing this on it's acoustical performance any time soon, but the sound is just fine for sitting on a desk or a night stand.The only reason I didn't go 5 stars is that aside from having something to play your iPod on, it's only about a 20 minute project.

About what you'd expect. It was a fun project for my son to build and he was proud of his accomplishment. In the end, he had something he could listen to through his iPod. But it's just cardboard and cheap speakers so after a month or so it ended up in the trash.

Bought this for my 9 year old nephew for Christmas - as soon as he opened this gift, he disappeared to go build it. He wouldn't let anyone help him - he wanted to do it himself. With careful following of the directions, we was able to assemble on his own. He really thought it might sound "tinny", and I wondered too. He was excited to let me know that it did have good sound, and when I listened, I thought it was pretty good sound, too. Fun project and they can decorate it however they want.

These speakers are super cool. It is great for for a child who likes to put things together and see how it works. The speakers do indeed function and have decent sound. The directions are easy to follow and assemble. Of course, since it is made of mostly cardboard, they are not very durable, but for a child who can take care of things and likes to listen to music, I think the price is right for this neat toy.

Cheap! Not worth the money at all

My grandson and I made the Rock Dock together and it worked! The speakers were better than expected. Be careful when handling the thin wires.

Kids loved this item as a Christmas gift last year, because it allowed them to build it and design it the way they wanted.

He was so excited when he received this gift..but after assembling it (with adult supervision) it did not work well at all. Don't waste your money
