Lag makes it unusable
The portal is so laggy that it is unusable, even after I followed the advice online to connect my PS5 to my router with an Ethernet cable. Would not recommend this for anyone.

I with I could give this zero stars
I was genuinely excited to get this, especially after hearing about the latest software update. Unfortunately, this device has been a massive letdown from the moment I powered it on. 1. Unacceptable Lag and Connection Issues Straight out of the box, the lag is horrendous. It takes far too long to power on and connect to the PS5. Once it finally does, the performance is abysmal—severe lag, constant screen glitches, and total loss of connection after just five minutes of gameplay. Completely unacceptable for a next-gen device. 2. Not User Friendly — This is a Widespread Issue I’m not new to tech. I consider myself more knowledgeable than the average user. That being said, I scoured community forums and discovered countless others experiencing the same problems. Despite trying every workaround—disabling encryption, rewiring my setup, and dedicating a separate Wi-Fi network—the lag and glitches persisted. No consumer should have to jump through this many hoops to get basic functionality. 3. No Bluetooth? Seriously? The lack of Bluetooth support is baffling. In 2025, how is this even possible? The 3.5mm jack is awkwardly placed, making it almost unusable, and useless if you use a case. The USB-C port is power-only, so you can't even use a Bluetooth dongle. Unless you spend another $200 on Sony’s proprietary earbuds or headset, you're stuck. That brings the total cost to nearly $400 for a glitchy, unreliable experience. 4. Poor Charging Design There's no wireless charging support—something already available on the standard PS5 controllers. Third-party charging stands require a dongle that, once again, is impossible to connect if you have a case on the device. It’s a frustrating and short-sighted design choice. I spent weeks trying to make this device work, reading forums, testing fixes, and hoping for a patch. But after three frustrating weeks, I’m done. I’m returning it. Heed this warning: Stay away from the PS Portal. In fact, avoid Sony hardware altogether until they can prove they’ve fixed this mess. I’ve been a loyal PlayStation user since the original PS1, but the PS5 generation—especially the Portal—is an enormous step backward.
