I’ve been keeping in my roadside assistance kit the typical “test probe”, the one with a -very short- ‘lead cable’ so basically was restricted to test fuses and check connections and terminals around battery and engine bay; so, I always have to carry an additional ‘jumper’ cable cord to extend the lead cable in case that I needed to reach taillights or other terminals farther away inside the cabin or below dashboard using a flashlight to spot the work area. Not anymore as I’m replacing it with this 3.5V-36VDC digital tester that has much more capabilities and is a lot more practical than the old one replaced. Now, I can trace, diagnose and locate short-circuits, test continuity, measure voltage, and polarity. and also comes with a buzzer for testing continuity, so you have also sound confirmation of continuity making it super versatile. The tester also includes a small built-in flashlight for testing in dark places as below dashboard. Overall is a welcome device to carry in my car as part of the tool kit kept in the trunk. Such as probing for electrical continuity, checking polarity, locating short circuits, and checking for “good” grounding. The probe has a LCD display built into it; which allows you read/check values using only one hand. I used this for the first time yesterday. It found where my problem was that I could not isolate with a standard voltmeter. This was the power going to a navigation, camera screen, radio unit in a motor home. Good news it found all of the power and grounds to the plug were good. The bad news is the very expensive unit is dead. It paid for itself had I hired someone to troubleshoot the problem.
