Rain Hat Sou'wester. This classic rain hat is also known as sou'wester. The sou'wester is a seafarer's waterproof headgear. Its special feature is the wide brim, which is longer in the back to keep the neck warm and dry by preventing rainwater from entering the clothes. Now where does this hat derive its name from? Most rain falls in a south-westerly direction, which is why the hat is named after the south-west point of the compass. It is possible that the name of this hat has its origins in Norway, as does its creation.

No complaints with the hat
I bought this hat for riding my bike in the rain. I have a hooded rain jacket, but whenever I had to turn my head to watch for traffic, I would only see the inside of the hood. Now this hat keeps the rain out of my eyes and allows me to look around.My only complaint was the postage was a bit dear and when it arrived, I realized why. They also sent a company catalogue which I hadn't asked for and didn't need, especially since it was all in German which I don't read.

Sou'wester
The Sou'wester is excellant, my only comment is the sizeing i.e. S, M, L, the small is very small, and the M, I would say is nearer a small size... I had to exchange my purchsae for a larger size...Just something to keep in mined.very happy with the style and qualitiy etc and would certainly recommend to others..regards Mike.

Very good quality and has been tested for real and keeps out the weather. As others have said the sizing is maybe one size smaller than you'd maybe expect, so allow for that (mine was the biggest size and just about sits OK -- would be nice if it was slightly larger (for reference, I wear a 61" motorbike helmet)

although this hat seems reasonable quality, i can only think it is for chidren because of the size.i am definately a small adult size ,but i got a med to be sure, however it was still too small.sizing needs to be made clearer on this item.

My wife loves this for gardening in the rain!
My wife got fed up with rain dripping down her neck when gardening, so bought this for her, and she loves it. As an added bonus, it gives the rest of us a good laugh, and we can see where she is when it starts to get dark!
