IT'S A GREAT SPARKIES AID
This a brilliant bit of kit for fault finding and testing, not available at all in Australia [they aren't supported here at all which is surprising] and have used it quite a bit since obtaining one from the USA.I use it mostly on 12 volt camping fridges and battery boxes associated with solar panels and the design and engineering is just great, the headlights make a huge difference in dark corners and simply the fact one tool pretty well tests everything so you don't have to change meters, test lamps etc and the quality of the complete kit is great and readily useable with multi-meters etc.The other thing that's impressive as well is the "how to use" videos on the Power-probe site,my biggest regret is they weren't around when I was an apprentice but as a retiree now, have no regrets about recommending this tool and is ideal for DIY, you don't need to be a "tradie" to use or operate it although it helps.A great tool and very highly recommended to all

Power Probe III PPKIT03 Master Combo Kit
I've been using a VOM for decades for any & all automotive electrical diagnostic work and had thought I was fairly adept at it....... Along with the necessary fabricating of probes, jumpers, & nearly always needed - customized component interfaces.Where or where has the Power Probe been all this time! A lesser known, but the most useful tool I've had the pleasure of purchasing in a very, very long time. Oh, it's not so bad to be a greybeard in the 21st century!Highest integrity of Design AND Manufacture, and Instructions, and Video. Who would have believed this in this era of china, china, china cheap/low quality control- or the 'All we need to do is make it work most of the time for most of the customers, and if it breaks it'll probably be out of warranty anyway' corporate business model, this is an wonderful & rare absolute exception. An essential tool for the serious mechanic all the way down to a should be required tool for the 'I'm not so comfortable with electrical stuff' shade tree / driveway parts replacer. When you add up just 1/2 of its functionality, it's a bargain from any perspective - especially the time savings plus higher accuracy, plus much faster get to the root of the problem - problem determination.

If you're tired of chasing rabbits
Besides the usual suspects, a good multimeter, this is an absolute must for diagnosing 12-volt electrical problems and chasing them down without pulling your hair out! The q3000 is pretty neat too. It will show direction on a short circuit, but just beeps when chasing a broken wire. Either way, you can do so much with this tool, to test just about everything that is 12 volt power related on a car or an RV it is well worth its money. Probably the best price on the web as well! Very quick customer service from the vendor, when needed. A half-decent tech line and watching every YouTube video available will be of assistance to you. Best of luck!

Absolute must for professional tech. A bit of overkill for weekend gearhead, would recommend the basic probe kit though.
This tool is an essential time saver. Wish I would have known about it years ago. I have a degree in Automotive Technology, have worked in the automotive field, and now work in heavy duty diesel repair. When I started where I work at, I was doing electrical diagnosis using a volt meter and test light when one of the guys asked me if I would like to use his Power Probe. I was impressed. Borrowed it a few more times then decided it was definitely worth buying my own. I think I have used my voltmeter once since I purchased this and my test light hasn't been touched, other than to move it out of my service cart and into the bottom drawer of my toolbox.I haven't ran into a issue where I have needed to use the short tracer yet. But, I am looking forward to putting it to the test.

Power probe 3 master test kit
I would have gave it five stars,if the instructional dvd had been better, it shows some of the things you can do with the power probe, but it's on a pre made up circuit board, if they showed actual usage on a real auto, it would be more clear on what test's you can perform. As for the tool itself i love it, it comes with a good assortment of attachments, and i love the extra long power leads, they come in real handy when working on a car trailer, or a semi trailer, i haven't used the short circuit detector yet, i think it will come in real handy when the need for it comes about. the box the tool comes in seems to be pretty sturdy, although the molded hinge will surely break after several times of opening and closing. The dvd has a downloadable pdf instruction manual, i suggest printing it off and keeping it with the tool, it comes in handy when needing different modes. in my opinion, it is a great tool for any tech or diy'er, it helps speed up troubleshooting times. I kinda wish i would have spent the extra money and got the hook, but i am very happy with the tool and would recommend it to a friend.Thank you again to amazon for another great product at a great price, and as always speedy delivery.

"One of the best investments ever"
Hello. I do alot of electrical work on cars and I am used to using a test meter and tast light to troubleshoot. I wanted something different and easier to use. So I tried the Power Probe III Master Combo Kit. After I received the kit I tried it on a car I had to repair some wiring from a previous installation that someone else did. It would have taken me a day or two find all of the issues. In just 5 hours I had all of the wiring issues fixed and I am very much impressed on how quick and easy the tool was to use. It made that job very easy and quick for me. I would buy this again if I had to. For me and the work I do it is very useful and now it is hard to do with out it. Now I am trying to find even more ways to use it. I can say that it paid for it self the first day I used it. I can go on and on about it but: If you need an all in one diagnostic tool this may be the one for you! I hope it is, and you are as happy as I am about your investment!

Such an fantastic set with so many capabilities!
I bought this when is was slightly cheaper and owned this tool for a little over a year now and thought it was finally time to come back and review this for other people looking to buying it. I had a Power Probe 2 which i didn't work and the abilities of the tool weren't the great as i bought it off a technician in my shop when he bought a newer one. So i knew it was finally time to buy a new one and invest in something better. I was personally was just going to buy just the Power Probe and not this set but when i was comparing prices i found that this set was slightly more than the actual Power Probe itself and looked what you are getting in this set for the price i knew i couldn't resist and i purchased it. I agree today that the Power Probe 3 is outdated in it's time as they have released 4 or 5 i believe if i am correct but i do not believe they are selling kit's like this anymore and you have to start buy individual attachments and pieces which can get expensive. I also have a technician in my shop that has this exact same set and he loves it so he recommended me get this set as well (back when there was no Power Probe 4 or 5.) If there was i personally would have purchased a newer model. As soon as this arrived i immediately put it to use, i had a no-start and turned out to be a bad ground for door locks which wasn't locking the vehicle (confused? because i was. Took me a while to figure out that one. It had something to do with remote start when it was locked to start up the vehicle and after further investigation afterwards it turned out to be common issue to come to lose.) After the first week i have used this tool roughly 4-5 times to diagnose problems. It is very convenient to have the ability to supply both power and ground on a click of button. If your ever in a situation where your vehicle doesn't start and you believe it is a starter (first check the voltage and ground going to the starter with the digital voltage meter on the screen, if you have full voltage and ground then supply power to the terminal (NOT the battery positive going into the starter. I watched a technician do that in my shop, i personally could not stop laughing. They battery was fried and is all i will tell you!) The starter should engage if it is not faulty. It is a very powerful tool in your hand BUT you have to know how to use it correctly because if you use it incorrectly BAD things can happen as i have learned from experience.)Aside from the actual Power Probe itself, the tool has a small screen that will display the voltage output. It is not extremely accurate like a Voltmeter is but it can get the job done and will show basic voltage such as example would be 12V for a battery. I will start off saying that some attachments and things in this set will not be used on a daily basis or might not even be used at all but they are there for whenever you DO need it. I am actually cannot comment on each attachment because personally i have not used all of them but like i said they are they for whenever i might need it.The set some with two ECT2000 as you can see in the picture one is a receiver and one is a transmitter. This is actually a very handy tool for when diagnosing and especially in today's vehicles that everything is electronic, it is very helpful to have (and also ridiculously hidden away.) If your not familiar with this type of tool, it has the ability to trace wires in a confined space (meaning behind all the covers, panels, and whatever the manufacture has hiding the wires.) I have or i guess i should say i had a technician in my shop that was diagnosing why none of the rear lights come on but only the hazards come on (nothing else works and the wiring harness run inside the vehicle and on the bottom of the floor to the rear.) He spent 2 days removing almost all the plastic panels and seats and covers just to get access to the wiring harness to check for voltage and turning out it was a break the connection (Now i can understand that you would have to remove all that to get access to fix the broken wire. Yes! but if there wasn't a broken wire? Then you would have wasted your time but with the ECT2000 the tool can easily side along the panels and check for voltage (If you are moving it along and you have voltage -------- ---------- that represents a wire and if you see that break in a wire the tool with pick it up and beep if that makes any sense. I can detect when voltage stops at a break in a wire then that way you know where to go to first instead of removing a whole bunch of panels and guessing.) I had a vehicle that the rear wiper wasn't working and i spent a while trying to figure it out but i used this tool (for the first time) to diagnose and turned out the wire had a break from rubbing against the metal. This tool is very useful for diagnosing and doing it right the first time.In addition, there are many other attachments in this set that make diagnosing even more helpful. I am not going to go through then all but take my word they are all useful in one way or another. The set comes with different adapters and even comes with additional wire for when your working on long vehicles to extend the wire to go the rear which is great. In my opinion you can't put a price on diagnosing. Doing it right the first time is always key but having the right tool to do it quickly is also key as well so i think if your in the looking to purchase one of these. Don't hesitate because this will save you time and money from diagnosing. It is a very useful and helpful to have in your tool box because i do not know what i would have done with out this. It can do very simple or complex repairs, all you have to know it how to use it correctly and in the correct application. I do not have any doubts of purchasing this tool, it is just so advanced on what you can do with this and the limitations are endless. I would HIGHLY recommend this tool to anyone (DIY or professional.) Just don't waste your money on just a Power Probe itself because your not getting your true money's value out of it, this set comes with it all for a decent price. You may never use it all but it is always that one time that you will need it and you will not have it (it always works like that doesn't it?)

Wow, why didn't I buy this sooner?
First week of owning this tool I have used it about 3-4 times on different vehicles and does it ever make electrical diagnosis easier! I read a lot of reviews on the product and some recommended just getting the power probe and skipping the ect2000 tool. I am very happy I just spent the money and got the ect2000 tool as well with this kit. With the ect2000 I had a vehicle come in with a blown fuse. I then went to the wiring diagram and reviewed what circuits received power from that circuit. I hooked up the ect2000 to that circuit and it indicated a short to ground. I unplugged each component receiving power in that circuit, and found when the last component was unplugged the ect2000 starting to indicate the circuit was now open... Easy as that I found a component that was shorted out internally.Very happy with these tools I just wish I would have bought them even earlier in my career as a tech because they will save me a lot of time = $$$.
