Amazon Save - Good Condition for busy and clumsy family to protect the garbage disposal unit
We recently had to replace our garbage disposal after our old Badger 5 1/2 stopped working. A plastic measuring spoon accidentally fell in and got stuck. While trying to remove it, we ended up breaking the spoon inside the unit. So we upgraded to the Evolution 45SS. With a busy household and kids in the kitchen, it is realistic to assume that utensils or small items will fall into the disposal again. I have dropped metal cutlery before, so this time I wanted an extra layer of protection. That is why I purchased the InSinkErator SilverSaver stopper. It fits perfectly in our disposal and does exactly what it is supposed to do. It helps prevent larger items from accidentally going down while still allowing water to drain. โฆ. The water does take a little longer to go down compared to having the opening fully clear, but that is a reasonable tradeoff for avoiding another disposal issue. I also tend to use very hot water when cleaning pots and pans, so I am hoping the stainless steel holds up well over time despite frequent temperature changes. So far, it feels solid and works well, and I am optimistic it will last. I bought this at an Amazon discounted price as an open box product. As you can see in the video, there were some tapes on the packaging, but the product itself was in great condition. Saving some money while getting exactly the same product was a nice bonus. Overall, a simple but practical addition if you want to help protect your garbage disposal from accidental drops.

Looks great and works perfectly! STP-DS Dual-position Stopper, Polished Stainless Steel
The sink in our new home did not come with a stopper, and after two generic stoppers purchased at hardware stores were too small for our InSinkErator drain, the search on Amazon began! Since the stoppers in this listing stated that they were by InSinkErator, I hoped that meant they would actually fit. I purchased the plain black, and the STP-DS Silver Saver Sink Stopper, Polished Stainless Steel, and both fit perfectly and seal tightly to fill the sink. I love the stainless dual-position stopper (STP-DS)! Our sink has a single drain with a disposal, and this stopper looks great and grips tightly in place, yet is easily removed when needed. I love that I can leave it in place all of the time, just pulling up the silver part of the stopper and slightly twisting to the open position. Water and smaller food can go down the drain to the disposal, but large items (like spoons!) are kept out. I can run my disposal with the stopper in the open position, and a quick twist allows the stopper to close to fill the sink for dishwashing. Brilliant! It was expensive (I know, it's just a sink stopper, right?), but I must say that for me it is worth it for the good looks and convenience of use, and since it stays in the drain, not having to find a place to put the stopper when not in use. I only wish that the silver top part of the stopper would stay perfectly straight when in the open position, as it tips slightly to the side (not enough to remove a star!). I wasn't sure how the stainless stopper was going to work out, so I had also ordered the plain black stopper (STP-PL Plastic Sink Stopper, Black). It's a basic stopper like I am used to having, made of hard plastic with a rubbery feeling seal that grips tight. I kept it as a back-up.

Where has this been all my life!
I cannot say this loud enough - BUY THIS PRODUCT. I have an American Standard 1.25hp garbage disposal that came with a terrible black rubber drain insert that let so little water down the drain that I had to cut pieces of it out (and then it still didn't drain freely). When this product was delivered, I immediately removed it (easily) from the package, removed the black rubber insert from my sink drain, and pushed this one into place. I could feel it "pop" into place as the rubber ring secured onto the metal ring inside the drain. Installation was about 5 seconds. The greatest feature of this product is that my sink now drains with no issues. The second greatest feature is that will be easier to clean as needed because of its design. My third greatest feature is that the stopper is attached and all it takes is a quick swivel of the top part and it plops down into place with no effort to stop up the sink. No issues with seepage, very easy to pull back up to let the sink drain, and it looks sooo much nicer than other options. Really, you can't go wrong and while I haven't had it long enough to comment on the durability, even if the finish looked bad a year from now, I would spend the money to replace it with another one.

Perfect Fit, but Plastic
This looks like sturdy metal, until you lift it and find out how light it is. It does the job of firmly stopping water or twisting the top to let liquid through and protect the disposal from items falling in.

Wish this had come with my 30 year old garbage disposal, fits like it is OEM, works better than OEM.
Wish I had found this 20 years ago! It lets water go through easily, simple short twist of top seals the opening to fill sink or to run disposal quietly. Fits the drain opening perfectly forming a good seal, tolerates popping into the dishwasher. Clever and functional design. I would buy this again. Just splendid.

Works Great!
This replacement looks and works just like my original 20 year old stopper. It stays shiny with soap, and a weekly scrubbing with cleanser.

Great stopper
Perfect for keeping silverware out of the disposal! Small food particles fit through the holes so you don't have to put it through separately and, twist it and you can easily stop the drain to wash dishes! I love this sink stopper! It keeps me from having to go into the disposal to fish things out.

Not good: sits too high and is not easily set for drainage vs stoppage
I have a GE disposal, with a removable drain strainer. But, I no longer have the stopper. So, I bought this combo strainer/stopper -- thinking that it would remain in place in the drain and do the straining or the stopping, depending on the "setting". But-- I am disappointed. The Insinkerator strainer/stopper DOES work for stopping up the drain, so that the sink can be filled with water. But, usage as the strainer is not good. 1) When in the drain position, there is a fairly large opening to allow water to drain. But, the opening is too small to let food items (such as peas, or other food scraps of similar size) to go down the disposal drain. I then have to lift the stopper out, shake off the scraps, and push the scraps down the drain. It is much easier to simply have the original strainer in place, and then empty that down the drain. 2) The strainer/stopper is very loosely held together. The position of "drain" vs "stopper" is dependent on how the two parts are positioned. But, because the parts are so loose, it is difficult to get it to be in the position that you want. It mostly falls down into the drain stopper mode. So, basically, it is a pain to get it to be in the drain position (where the water flows down the drain.) 3) The unit sits very proud of the sink bottom (whether in the drain position or the stopper position). This means that if you have it always in the sink drain, the top of it will be about 1.5" above the bottom of your sink! You then cannot lay anything in the sink without it "resting" on top of the stopper. And, because the stopper is so loosely constructed, the stopper position will usually get reset/nudged to the drain stopper position by default. So, this is all very inconvenient. 4) If you have it in the drain stopper position (because you want to fill the sink with water for washing pots and pans), the pots and pans will readily "hit" the protruding stopper (whose top is about 1.5" above the sink bottom), and will often "trip" the setting so that the water starts draining. All-in-all, this is not a good design. But it does work as a stopper, so long as you are careful not to "hit" the top while washing stuff in the sink. I do not recommend this item. Better to get one of the other stopper/drainer combo items available.

IT FITS!
Was a bit doubtful if my measurement of the original to be replaced was accurate - the rubber flange had perished. But I needn't have worried. This fits perfectly. Happy bunny. I'd hate to have to replace the whole waste disposal unit just because of a defunct Sink Stopper.

It works!
I have an Insinkerator garburator that came with our home. The plug that was with it never worked. I replaced my sink and ordered a new quick lock mounting flange (great) and ordered this to plug the sink. The sink finally works when plugged. Meaning it doesn't drain water within minutes. Love the product line.

Does what it says on the tin
Fitted perfectly and does exactly what it says. And yes it falls over a little, but does that actually matter?

Should be standard equipment.
This should be included with every new insinkerator disposer - especially if you fill the sink to wash dishes. Previous reviews say this is an exact replacement for their original stopper, but our brand new Insinkerator only came with a basic black plastic plug. No more small pieces or cutlery ending up in the grinder when you don't find them before draining the sink. The drain plug is a snug fit and makes a perfect seal to fill the sink and is easy to open for draining.
