This was our first Oxo item purchased. They've made a fan for life! My hubby is attending culinary school, but has been cooking for many years prior to formal training. He wanted a good grater that wouldn't take knuckles along with the food being grated.The Oxo Good Grips is positively perfect. The sturdy design will last for many years. More importantly, it was also designed with the safety of the cook in mind. The broad handle easily fit my husband's broad "man hands" (you guys know what I mean - women's hands can fit in much tighter handles most of the time), giving him a secure grip on the grater. This is super important. Some graters have a very narrow handle area, leaving it either annoyingly tight or comfy only for women. There is an additional anti-slip black ring around the bottom, making it very unlikely to slip on the table/counter surface.This particular grater even offers an extra convenience - a small plastic storage box with snap on lid for storing the food you have grated. While not great for big quantities, of course, it would be great for parmesan cheese or freshly grated spices. The storage box is even marked with measurements so you can easily see when you've reached that 1/2 cup (or whatever) of grated ingredients for your recipe. It pops on to the bottom of the grater if you choose to use it, so the food goes directly into the container. No fuss, no mess.I would not change a thing on this grater, that is how nice it is. Well, okay - I'd add an OPTION, not a change. It would be nice to see some other colors added some time down the road. (Most of our kitchen is done in John Deere, so green would be nice! Hint hint!) This was a very well-thought-out design and we are glad we bought it.We also are very glad we purchased the item from Amazon. It was packaged in the same box as a cast iron dutch oven (ordered at the same time), which wasn't the best idea. The first grater came dented from the weight of the cast iron sliding in to it. We followed Amazon's spectacular return information, had the bad one back in the return mail to them that afternoon and received the replacement grater the following DAY! Yup - one day. Outstanding service by Amazon.Overall, nothing negative to say! We highly recommend this item, as well as purchasing it here on Amazon's site.

This is a good cheese grater. The cup at the bottom is awesome, and the fact that it even comes with a lid is just so smart - good move OXO. We've had ours for almost 4 months now and it's still incredibly sharp, I've cut myself a couple times even, so be careful with it!As much as I like it there are a couple cons:1. You have to grate over a plate or a cutting board, whatever you grate isn't very well contained and a good portion comes out around whatever you are grating. I don't remember this happening as much with our last grater, it's pretty messy and it's a little annoying.2. The measuring cup is probably my favorite part about this product, but I dropped it a couple weeks after we bought it and it chipped immediately. We have hard floors but it's just a standard vinyl flooring, it's not particularly hard. I feel like it should have been a bit more sturdy. It's still usable though so it's not terrible.It's not perfect but the measuring cup makes this a winner. If I could go back I might get the more expensive version personally, but I would still recommend this one.

My family needed to replace our old grater and I spent a bunch of time searching for the perfect replacement and this is it.It fits in a drawer, it's sturdy, it's easy to hold, the type of grating surfaces on the two big sides aren't those terrible little punch stars that snag and grab at you and the reviews gave me confidence that it is of good quality. I wanted all of that and wasn't willing to give an inch. This provides that and more.In addition to all of the above, we also love the little rubber gasket that it has at the bottom. Its supper sturdy and comes off easy for cleaning. This grater is nice looking too, with a sleek elegance to it. The whole thing feels of good quality. The little measuring cup is a nice extra although we haven't really used it. The slicing side makes nice thin slices of cheese for sandwiches.The remaining side is the star punch grater type. Its good for nutmeg but not sure I would use it for anything else. My old grater had a side with it too and that type is not of much use to me but like I said its good for nutmeg. Most graters seem to have big sides of this type or sometimes only the star punch grater type. This one includes it but doesn't over do it.All in all just about the perfect grater.

Very good quality. The removable plastic bottom catches the food as it is grated. It has a slimmer profile than older box graters. The rubber handle is comfortable. Good product.
