Ameriwood Home Dakota L-Desk with Bookshelves, Espresso

I’m really impressed with the Altra Dakota L-shaped desk! It looks amazing in my home office and gives me so much more working space than I had before. The built-in bookshelf on the side is super handy — I use it for storing notebooks, small decor, and even my printer on the bottom shelf. The finish looks sleek and modern, and it feels sturdy and well-made. It did take a little while to assemble, but the instructions were clear and all the pieces fit perfectly. Once it was set up, it completely transformed the look and function of my workspace. If you’re looking for an affordable, stylish, and functional desk, this one is a great option!

Short and sweet: You're definitely getting the bang for your buck here. It offers a lot of workspace while taking up a small area of your home, and while it has no keyboard tray or drawers, there's still plenty of leg room all around to add those yourself (or move a short end table underneath). It's sturdy*, not easy to scratch**, and very easy to install... if you get the instructions. If you do order one: right after you place the order, contact the Ameriwood company on their website about needing instructions for it. They'll send an email to you within 1-3 days, depending on when you ask. Be sure to check your spam mail, as they only send the instructions, and there is no body to their email. Since not including assembly instructions is a common problem, I'll probably post them somewhere or make a video on Youtube about it and update this review later to include it. Just a convenience to have. I should have emailed them when I ordered, hoping I'd get the instructions, and yet they did not come. Though when I got the desk, after a little while I figured out assembly myself. Assembly time: approx. 1hr 30min with one person... Awesome. I even managed to move it myself pretty easily to where I needed it. (5'1" female weighing in at a whopping 112 lbs.) I moved it while it was on a carpet. Two would be better/faster for moving this, especially if moving it across a hard wood floor. All in all, this is worth it. And at the price it's at, I won't even be mad if the animals or my kiddo (when she's old enough to even walk) scratches it or messes it up. It's worth fixing up later on as I need to, as it is a simply well and very nicely made desk. *I have a muttsky (husky/sheppard/wolf mix) who is rather clumsy, and with all his rough-housing around my desk with his soccer and tennis ball (much to my dismay), he can't seem to bump into it enough to disturb my monitor or other desk décor. **I've had a kitten misjudge how slippery the surface was when she jumped onto it from my husband's desk and - claws out - fly right off the other side... and no scratches. For those of you who have never had a cat or even a kitten, their claws are known to be mercilessly sharp.

Great, sturdy, nice looking desk. I found it easy enough to put together, but my husband did not lol. It HAS to be put together in the right order, if you try to get ahead and do something before the instructions say to do that part it won't fit together right. If you're the kind of person who doesn't like to follow the directions and wants to just put it together, you're gonna have a bad time. It didn't require any tools not in the box (except to fix what my husband broke when he tried, he's one of the previously mentioned no-instructions people lol), the instructions were easy to follow, the connections used worked great. It is that particle board kind of wood, so breaks just a little bit easier than I'd prefer, but I expected that for the price. Overall I'd buy it again. Just definitely follow the instructions!!!

Saw a lot of reviews that were both praising this desk, and giving it low marks. I figured, you get what you pay for, and was expecting nothing special. The desk arrived fairly quickly, seemed to have been lost in transit at one point, but it arrived, and was packaged flawlessly- top marks for that. Assembly was very simple, you get these special screws that stick out, and you basically slip them into the holes and lock them in with a special lock tight screw that they have. all in all this made for a very simple assembly, and will make for an extremely easy take down, as all you need to do is unlock the and slip them apart again (there are four places where you will need to unscrew, but that's no biggie). There were no scrapes or scratches other than the ones I added with my carelessness during assembly. the desk space is a little tight for your legs (you'll be bumping into the little shelf thing on the right side quite often, so be cautious and conscientious to avoid banging your knee on the side. the table space itself is quite roomy, I have a large TV on top, A mousepad, my keyboard, my Tartarus gaming pad, and my microphone all set up on the right hand part of the desk, and have my laptop with its own dedicated mouse and mousepad on the left portion. For the price, this is the perfect desk for me, and I was able to assemble it myself (though flipping it up was a tad challenging after assembly, mostly because I had a tight space, and the desk weighs 70~ pounds, so if you don't think you can do that yourself, make sure to grab someone to assist you. Overall the desk is excellent, feels sturdy, doesn't give, and looks beautiful in the espresso variation. Great desk! Will definitely consider more of these later on. I opted for a Homall gaming chair (the red and black racer type with a leg rest) to go with this purchase, and for a little over 200 bucks you have a fully functional gaming center, and the chair fits perfectly with the arm rests lowered slightly. Perfect combo purchase in my opinion.

50 minute build time for me, sturdy wood - no cheap backboards here!!! I'll admit, some of the cams are a little tricky, but the entire desk is built so that you have support from all 4 sides so there is no wobble. There's a part on the desk where it's raised maybe a millimeter and it does move if the desk is completely empty, but if you have anything on it it's not a problem, and for the price I mean who cares? That's the only flaw. I just got it today, I'll update the review if necessary but it's incredible for me, exactly what I wanted, fastest build ever for me, and it's so sturdy!

To start, if you are looking for a high end executive desk move along. This is a cheap and low quality desk. YMMV on condition. I considered this a high risk purchase (for Amazon in this case) because of the negative reviews posted. However, due to the low price I decided to roll the dice. Upon delivery I inspected the package before accepting it to ensure there was no damage. I did see some punctures but that didn't go through. Install was straight forward. Keep in mind the materials used for this desk are lower end make sure to be careful and do not over tighten. Following the install I inspected the final product and it had some nicks but nothing significant. Overall I am happy with the purchase <120 for a L desk delivered is hard to beat. I would recommend this a cheap office desk. I am able to fit 2 laptops and 2 monitors comfortably.

Delivered WAY faster than anticipated! Very happy about that. As for the desk, for the price it couldn't be beat. It is of course particle board but seems sturdy enough and looks nice as well. Assembly was easy and quick, instructions were clear and it only took me maybe 25 minutes? Would definitely recommend this desk.

The desk is relatively easy to make but takes a very long time and cannot be done alone. One the caps to the cable routing holes came shattered in pieces despite no damage on the shipping box. The desk overall looks like but pieces fit together slightly crooked. Overall cheap desk, good for the money but a tad disappointing.

I expected the quality of the material. I won't complain on that. However, the p*cking of the product is so careless. It's not hard to use your mind to make sure the surface of the main board is not right near the most outer of the box without any protection on that part (although other protections have been put into the box). I had the first order damaged with a dent on the main board (because it was right near the surface of the box), and the replacement had a similar damaged on another board. PS, Amazon's censorship on my review is a st*pid thing. It said my review is about sh*pment, not about the experience on the features of the product. OK. I think p*cking can be considered as part of the product, since I believe it was done by the factory. This review is not complaining the problem of sh*pment by UPS. I'm complaining the work done by the factory!!
