The Work is as Uninspired as the Binding is Unreliable
Wanted this to be good. Some of the art is good. Some of the story is good. But it goes quickly downhill and never recovers, in both story and art. The monochrome newsprint doesn't help. The good news is the binding falls apart about the same time that the work does. Which somehow leaves you feeling better about the whole situation. Since you now can recycle the book over the binding without needing to slog through to the end, just because you paid money for it.

Black and white. I messed up.
When I ordered, I did not realize that the book would not be in color. My mistake. A color copy would have been awesome; I was a big fan of the comic when it was originally coming out near the start of Image comics.

No color inside
As great as remembered, but not colored in like the originals! Only the covers have color! Bummer!

Not as good as remembered
I saw this on comixology u limited and couldn't wait to read it. Unfortunately, my t3enage tastes mustve been waaaaaydifferent than my adult tastes. I think whati was most disappointed in was how disjointed the story seems and how long it took to get anywhere. About halfway through it was just more of the same after the same. I really enjoyed the artwork. But for me, story is king and its just not there. Better left in my memory.

I Never Knew How Funny This Series Is
I ordered this book 4 years ago and lost it and am going to reorder it and volume 2 also because they were both great reads. The regular Savage Dragon series was always sold out at the comic shop I frequented back in the mid and late 90's but my Goddess Amazon.com hooked me up. Erik Larsen and I are now Facebook friends and I just recently stopped bugging him about the release of Volume 3.It's all in here. His first meeting with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the death of his first girlfriend which would become a major part of the storyline for months to come and just about all the major buttkicking and trash talking you would expect from this series. It's great that it's presented in black and white because I've found it helps me break down the art stages from penciling to inking. If you are a Savage Dragon fan, you will like this series.

Savage Dragon Archives is one of the best ways to enjoy an awesome comic series with twists
Savage Dragon Archives is one of the best ways to enjoy an awesome comic series with twists, turns and history. These archive books remind me of the Cerebus phonebooks as they are in black and white but contain HUGE amounts of wonderful art by Mr. Erik Larsen. Volume one contains the mini series and the first issues of this epic series. I have just finished rereading them and have fallen in love with the series all over again. Definitely a steal at this price and currently the 9 volumes lead you only months off of the latest issues (available in comic shops). This series has some serious action, blood and sexual situations so not for the young audience.

Big collection of great 1990’s comics.
This is a black and white collection of Savage Dragon comics, 24 issues I believe? The collection is akin to the Marvel Essential collections or the DC Showcases. This is a cheap way to get a bunch of great comics.

Good
This could have been an amazing collection but it is black and white and I thought the originals were in colour. I have no problem with it being in B&W as the inking is first rate but it just lends a certain cheapness to the collection and material which is a pity. Anyway, the stories are fine and the action is great throughout

Black and White Reprint
It doesn’t mention anywhere, not even on the book itself that the printing is in black and white. The inking is fine but it should be stated on the listing and product that it isn’t in color.

Great but needs reboot with color
Basically reprints the first few issues of Savage Dragon. Last I read them was when they were first printed. Getting these to get caught up. Sadly I feel this could have done with color. Love Erik's inks and toning but it doesn't come across as well in black and white.
