Life time map updates?
When I bought the GPS it said it came with life time map updates. However when first switched on it offered to update the maps but also I had to pay a subscription to get the updates. An online chat to the TomTom customer service put it to right in their system and I do now have lifetime updates free of charge. Otherwise an excellent addition to our motorhome.

Purchased as an upgrade to my 5100
I purchased this as an upgrade because I wanted to use with my Caravan, I did ask Tom Tom about transferring my contacts and routes from my previous device, they were not helpful. Remember if you have a previous Tom Tom and use Tom Tom My Drive you will have your previous device registered here also you should have a Tom Tom Account. It was easy and just synced my account to the new device. Another point you can use Bluetooth or Wifi. I have the My Drive App on my Computer and on my Phone and I can say at the moment it is syncing well. The Guy at Southampton really hadnt got a clue, because of him I nearly sent it back. Anyway alls well.

Great Satnav
This is my fifth TomTom so obviously I like them and prefer them to other makes. I purchased this to replace my Go 600 which is very similar but wasn’t great when towing the caravan as it did try to take me down on roads that wasn’t great with the caravan. This new one is much better and safer but I had some issues when set it up to take me to a campsite. It kept saying that this route is not suitable for my outfit. I then realised as the destination was inside the campsite off the main road that campsite track is registered as not suitable. Now as I realised this I just drop a point to the gate of the site on the main road and it works fine.Ideally it would be great if the TomTom flags up the section that it refers to as non suitable.I also use the MyDrive TomTom app to plan different routes in advance but you can’t select driving with caravan.I do recommend this for caravan and Motorhome users.

Adequate software let down by underpowered hardware
I've been using TomTom devices for years and still use a 6100 device in my car for commuting.Although I used Copilot Caravan on an iPad I thought a dedicated device would be a good choice for navigating around Europe in a smaller Motorhome (6M). There are some great things about the TomTom Go Camper Sat Nav, but also some serious issues. Having just returned from a multi week trip to France relying on this device I think I know its features and capabilities enough to list some of my impressions. On the plus side, the routing works well and once a destination is entered the directions and guidance the device provides are, in the main, spot on. Issues I have found seem to related more to the mapping data, e.g. it still tried to send me down narrow lanes, farm tracks and illegal junction turns at times (common sense is still required, but sometimes this isn't enough in a stressful situation). I would imagine this is down to the maps provider (which I believe is still TomTom), but in some locations, such as Cite Europe in Calais - a popular spot for UK Motorhomes using the Eurotunnel, the device maps get this whole area very wrong and would be dangerous to rely on. The other mapping devices I used (Google maps on a phone or Copilot Caravan on the iPad) get this area correct every time. The MyDrive app for phones and the web are also a useful feature, being able to find a location quickly on another device and send to the Sat Nav works well, but not being able to use the tablet version of this software in landscape mode is still a major drawback in its functionality. You are also unable to use the POI's on the device using the MyDrive apps, another let down in my view as they seemed pretty comprehensive for campsite and stopover locations. However, the reason the MyDrive apps is so useful is because of the largest issue I have with the Go Camper device, it is painfully slow to use, the TomTom interface in it's new Android software codebase has never been rapid, but on this device it is terrible, perhaps 50% slower than the 6100 I also use. As a result the device becomes impossible to interact with, it also has a terrible tendency to go blank (whilst resetting or something in the background) for a period of time that makes you think the device will not recover. This also tends to happen at time when you need the device the most, e.g. after ignoring a request from the device to turn left at a turn right only junction. I assume this is some form rerouting going on, but it really needs to be better. The performance issues are throughout the device though, searching for POI's or just navigating the menus require a substantial amount of patience, even typing into the on screen keyboard can take many seconds for the device to accept a typed character. For a premium device the performance of the hardware is really poor and I am really disappointed with the device for this reason. The three stars I have marked are due to its software capability, but as with most TomTom products I don't expect any new features or optimisations to be added to this device, in my experience anything new will only go onto new devices.

Great for motorhome
I previously bought a different make of sat nav because I wanted one for a motorhome. However the map function on that sat nav was very poor and slow.So I reverted to a TomTom, a make I've had before without any problem! I was not disappointed, the mapping is very quick and reliable. Setting it up for my vehicle was quick and this year I've been down the South West of England and up to John O' Groats without any problems with the mapping. All in all I'm very pleased and recommend it wholeheartedly!

Peace of mind that you're not going to be taken down dirt tracks pulling your caravan!
I bought the latest version of the Tom Tom Camper after my old one completely died - I'd had it almost 5 years...Likes: Good clear display and visual guidance and clear audio instructions early enough to enable the driver to take action. Showing your incoming texts is also a bonus.Dislikes: I really miss the 'Repeat last Instruction' facility from my old Tom Tom. With the old one if I missed the instruction or wanted to double check which turn to take I only had to touch the screen and it would repeat - really useful if you are towing 7m of caravan and about to enter a busy junction! Also, I miss being able to use the map screen to change volume like I did on the old version. On this one you have to enter the menu first.
