It's everything it claims to be!
I almost pulled the trigger on another camp grill here on Amazon, but then I ran across this one and I'm very glad I did. Obviously the reviews were important in making the decision because we wanted something that we wouldn't be disappointed in. Now that I have it I can say that this grill is perfect for camping! We actually have a RV, but like to cook outside as much as possible. Before having this grill we would buy charcoal and travel with a small BBQ. It was a hassle having to both start a campfire and grill, now we only do one. The property we stay at most of the time we have built a 3 foot wide fire pit that is surrounded by landscaping stones. The legs of this grill sit perfectly on the stones and give us about 12-18 inches above our fire. So far we've heated up our coffee percolator, cooked breakfast in a cast iron pan and grilled burgers and hot dogs directly on the grill. The best part? It cleans up easy by just letting any food burn off over the fire and then it stores flat! This is a heavy duty grill and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking for one. I expect it will last many years! If you need a smaller size Texsport does sell a couple others here on Amazon. Texsport Heavy Duty Camp 24" X 16" Grill Texsport Heavy Duty Camp 16" x 12" Grill

Great if used properly!!
Great camping grill if used properly.First, I would not cook directly on it right away. As other reviewers have mentioned it is painted black and it will peel off. I purchased two 16x9 Griddles (See below) which perfectly covered half the grill. The griddles are reversible. I was able to boil water and make coffee on one half of the grill, while at the same time cooking anything from bacon & eggs to burger & dogs on the other side. I have never had a better camping/cooking experience. (Personally don't like gas when camping, fire only...)If you are looking for a large, heavy duty grill this is it, just use it properly. I will update this post after a few more uses and see if I am comfortable cooking directly on it over time. Plus I want to upload a picture so you can all see how sweet this set up is with the griddles!!Used it again this weekend. Couldn't be happier. Completely impressed! Can't wait to put it to the test!
This grill far exceeded our expectations! It's HUGE, yet folds completely flat, which is a big deal for a family of five traveling with limited car space. It's incredibly sturdy and looks as though it'll be really durable, though time will ultimately be the deciding factor there. Our family loves camping, and our goal was to purchase equipment which will last us many years to come. I think we found it. We leave for our first camping trip of the season in about a month, and we're looking forward to being able to cook up some delicious campfire meals for us AND our extended family...all in one shot. (A far cry from only being able to cook a couple burgers and dogs at a time!) All in all? Awesome investment.

Poor welds defeat an otherwise hefty product UPDATED
This camp grill provides a stable working platform for cookware over an open fire. It consists of two main components - a heavy metal grid, and a metal frame with legs that fold back beneath when the grill is not in use. The grid is welded to the frame with spot welds, and the entire product is then painted with flat black grill paint. It is not designed to be cooked directly upon - but to serve as a base for cookware, food products wrapped in foil, etc. It is quite heavy-weight, and would seem to be heavy enough to hold any normal combination of cookware. The legs seemed a little short - holding the grid less the 12" above the ground - so this grill would be best suited for cooking over a fire in a pit at or below ground level. The problem with this product is with the spot welds that hold the grid to the metal frame. The grid is welded to the underside of the frame so the welds bear all the weight of the grid as well as any cookware placed on the grid. I ordered one of these grills from Amazon and upon arrival inspection found that 3 of the welds had broken before I had even removed the grill from the box. The grid was noticeably sagging away from the frame when I set the grill up to look at it. I returned the product to Amazon (effortlessly) and ordered a replacement. Two days later a replacement grill showed up, but it was exhibiting the SAME PROBLEM. Worse, upon close inspection it became apparent that one of the welds that had popped loose had actually been painted underneath; meaning that the weld had popped BEFORE the grill was painted. I returned the 2nd grill and asked for a full refund instead of a product replacement.Bottom line - quality control problems would prevent me from recommending this product unless you could inspect it first for broken welds. Even then, I would be concerned about the welds breaking under the expansion / contraction of the grill under use, or for that matter, when an entire meal of cookware was sitting on top.UPDATEThird time's the charm, apparently. I tried to find this grill at other retailers and could not. After looking for two weeks, I decided to give Amazon one last chance. The grill that arrived yesterday (my 3rd attempt) was opened immediately and inspected. Amazingly, the welds were noticeably different, and much more robust. The grid is much more securely fastened to the frame, and there was not a single loose weld. I have changed my rating (and review) based on this new information. Please inspect the welds when you buy - but otherwise this purchase looks like it will work out for me!

Does the job well
Great product for adding a grill over coals or a fire. NOT MADE FOR COOKING DIRECTLY ON SURFACE. I said that only because I saw other posts complaining about it. The grill is covered in paint. The grill is not very high off the ground with no adjustability other than sinking your fire or putting the grill on blocks. Nevertheless, it prevents you from having to put your cookware into the fire. Works for me!

Best purchase in a long time!
This thing is amazing, I bought the largest one because we camp in pretty big groups sometimes. I can cook TONS of goodies on this thing. When it's not in use over the fire it makes a pretty rad little table too!One thing to keep in mind is the paint needs to burn off, but if you do camp fies like we do it takes a couple of times to clean it all off and make the surface safe for direct cooking. You can just use old cookie sheets or aluminum foil for the first couple of times but after that it's golden!!!
