Good for pencil colorists
The title of this book is a little confusing (and I'm not the only one who's confused, judging by other reviews). Lilt has published a large number of books so it makes sense to have similar books grouped into series, but it would be helpful to the consumer if these naming schemes were more specific. Although this book is volume 28 of the Sacred Mandala Designs and Patterns series, it does not itself contain any mandalas."Detailed Designs and Beautiful Patterns" contains line art of flowers in various styles, most of which can be described as fanciful or abstract. Some of the images are repeated on multiple pages, but they are not identical because the images are of different sizes and in different arrangements. There are 20 pages to color (21 if you count the small picture on the title page), printed on one side of the paper. The exception is the final page which has information about the publisher's Facebook page printed on the back. The pictures vary in complexity. Some have large open areas and bold lines which is helpful if your vision isn't so great or if you have shaky hands. Other pages are extremely intricate and are challenging if you like to color each tiny space individually. One page in particular had me scratching my head because there just plain isn't much to color unless you're the kind of person who likes to doodle/tangle in the background.I have tested the paper with several media and found that dry media (colored pencils, pastels, etc.) works the best. The paper has a surprising amount of tooth so if you like to layer and blend colors you have some texture to work with. The paper is pretty thin so wet media like markers (both water and alcohol based) and gel pens will seep through to the other side of the page. I recommend using a piece of cardstock or a few sheets of regular paper to protect the next page. Be warned that wet media may also make the paper warp and buckle so it wouldn't be suitable for those who like to take their picture out of the book and frame them or use them for crafts. The book is perfect bound (like your average paperback novel) but it's so thin that it might have worked better if the binding was a saddle staple instead of glue because it would be easier to make the book lie flat on whatever surface you're using to support your coloring.I would recommend this book to a hobby colorist who colors primarily to play with different color arrangements within a repeating pattern, for stress relief or distraction, but may have varying levels of ability or concentration. If you need a lot of variety in a book (instead of variations of similar designs) or you prefer high quality paper you may not find much enjoyment in this book.I received a review copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

and not getting bored with repetition
I received a complimentary product in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. This book comes with 20 different designs that are very inviting to color. There are a few pictures that has some of the same patterns in them, but they are different enough to want to color them all. I could see myself coloring every page in this book, and not getting bored with repetition. The designs range from fairly easy to very intricate, making them fun for beginners and non-beginners alike. There are some pages that will take no time at all to color, and some that will require lots of attention. The pages are all one sided, and the paper is good quality. I have used crayola markers and sharpies, with little bleed through. Using a piece of paper between the pages is a very easy fix for this. I also think the paper will be good for pencils also. I think that the designs are very nice and swirly. Most of the pages would be great for framing. There are two pages that look similar, and seem to be designed like they go together. I think that those two pages would be great for framing and hanging next to each other. Most of the designs seem to be paisley originated. The pages are not perforated, but could easily be taken out for framing, sharing, or gifting. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone that likes to color, or for a gift for someone you know that likes to color. This would be a great starter book for someone who is interested in trying the hobby.

Beautiful designs but there are duplicates among other books from this company
I love (most) of the designs in this book. The designs are curvy and organic, symmetrical and visually pleasing to the eye (at least to my eyes.)There are some designs that have very small areas to color, and these are probably best done with colored pencils This is the larger version of coloring book, about 8 x 10 or 8.5 by 11 (I didn't measure - sorry). The pages are printed on only one side and the paper is moderately heavy, maybe 40 or 50 lb (but I don't know this for sure. Not as thick as cardstock, certainly). My only quibble is that I purchased three coloring books by this company - all have the same title, but different covers and different item numbers, so I expected them to be different, just books in a series; however there are many duplicates among the three books The other two are 8 x 8. These are inexpensive enough that I'm not going to fuss too much, as the duplicates will allow me to try different color combinations, but I feel it's misleading for the company to issue the same designs with different covers and sizes.

Beautiful designs and a great de-stressing activity
I have always loved drawing and coloring but it had been years since I really did these activities on a regular basis. With a demanding job and family commitments, I thought my days of drawing and coloring were over, but I have since found that I am able to squeeze in some time once in a while to do these relaxing and de-stressing activities, thanks in part to coloring books like these. These are not your average kiddie coloring books but created specifically for adults (it states "Adult Coloring Book" on the front page) although I can see these being used by older children who love coloring and have the patience.I find the designs lovely and intricate but not so intricate as to make it a chore to color. I have been using my Derwent Pastel Coloring Pencils, Derwent Metallic Coloring Pencils, and also my Staedtler Ergo Soft Coloring Pencils, and have been very pleased with the results. The paper quality is above average and I even tried using some markers(but found they were not my favorite medium for coloring) with no bleed through. The designs can be framed too if one wishes because each coloring page is only printed on one side. I look forward to many hours of pleasant and calming coloring!

Not a bad book
This is quite a good book, i have a good number of colouring books, and although this is ok, its not ranked as one of my favourites . The paper is on the thin side, but the patterns are only printed on one side, so any bleed through wont matter, i always put a sheet of paper or thin card under the pattern im colouring in though just to make sure the next picture is protected. I have used faber castell polychromos, crayola supertips, staedtler fine liners, and watercolour pencils with this book with pretty good results. Obviously using watercolour will buckle the pages terribly, but im not too bothered with this particular book, its not going to be a keeper, once finished, I'll probably chuck it. There are a lot of detailed designs, and. And a few that are much simpler, i have included a few photos as an example.
