## Description

This 4-Piece Accessory Kit makes the Roma Food Strainer & Sauce Maker the most versatile tool in any kitchen. Make your own salsa, strain the seeds from strawberries to make your own jellies, or create puree for pumpkin pie from scratch. All three accessory screens are made of the same high grade stainless steel as the standard Roma screen. The Grape Spiral allows the Roma to strain grapes while separating the seeds and skins for homemade juices, great for the home wine maker. Screens also sold separately.

Review: Where Have You Been All My Life? - I think the title of my review just about says it all, but I'm happy to give some specifics. I purchased the Roma Food Strainer after reading reviews, good and bad. It appeared to be exactly what I needed, as I've spent the last 25 years processing several hundred pounds of tomatoes annually, using the long, hot method of blanching, ice bathing, peeling, and milling my San Marzano beauties. Of course, everyone who has ever canned during the summer knows that it's always the hottest days of the year when your crops ripen, and boiling pots of water are the last thing you want to be slaving over. The Roma strainer completely eliminates that step, and I couldn't be more thrilled. From garden to sink for a quick wash, an easy slice down the middle of each tomato just to make sure there are no bad spots inside; then, into the hopper, processed through, and voilà! Ready for canning or cooking! Now, onto the strainer itself. My biggest concern when purchasing were the comments made about the loss of suction on the base. I have used the mill for over a week now, and removed it from my counter top (granite), and reattached at least a dozen times. I've knocked on wood as many times, in hope that it will continue to function, and so far, so good. Houston, we have suction! The mill assembles and disassembles easily, and is easy enough to clean. The only negative that I can find, and it's easily overcome, is the quality/durability of the plastic cup that attaches to the end of the strainer assembly. I'm worried that with repeated removal and reattachment that it might eventually crack, so I've opted to leave it on permanently. A couple of tips worth re-mentioning: As others have said, run your skins back through the mill one or two times. Quick and easy. You'll be glad you did. Also, don't try to push too much through at once. This is a great product, but it's certainly not industrial.
Review: Strains tomatoes so well you could almost say it's a "strain-free" way to do it! - I got this gizmo because my garden produces tons of tomatoes and I wanted an easy way to strain them for making my own sauces, soups, and etc. This Weston strainer works perfectly for as advertised for the job. You drop chunks of tomatoes into the top, turn the handle, and the sauce/juice comes out in the chute on the side while the skin and other bulk gets pushed out of the waste funnel at the end. The tomato liquid you get is clean and free of debris but it isn't thin or runny like water or pure juice. It has enough texture or consistency to be considered almost a sauce even before you start cooking and reducing it. This device does exactly what I hoped it would do. I also like how easy it is to crank the handle, even with my old and arthritic hands. Very little force is required to drive it, and I can run 100 tomatoes through it at a time with no difficulty. I do have some critical observations, but since this thing works so well for such a reasonable price these are just observations only and not criticisms. The assembly instructions could be improved. Although it is written in good English - is NOT some poor translation from Chinese - the instructions need a bit more detail and better illustrations showing how to put the thing together. I say this being someone who can build a working laser printer entirely from scratch given the service manual and all the individual parts. Putting this tomato strainer together required studying the picture of the assembled product on the cover as much as the written instructions and parts diagrams. Once you figure it out the first time, though, you should have no problems taking it apart for cleaning it after use and then putting it back together again. It's not at all complicated, but better instructions would make it even easier the first time.. My other observation is that the plastic clips in the end of the waste funnel, which snap onto the screen to hold it in place, seem adequate when new out of the box, but being plastic, and having to detach and then reattach it for cleaning after every use, I suspect that this may be the weak link that will eventually break in this otherwise fairly sturdy and robust machine. If it does break, I will update this review to say how long it lasted. All in all, I think this is a great product for its price, easy to use, and works exactly as advertised and hoped for.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: has the suction bottom been reworked so that it adheres securely to cabinet surfaces like granite?**
A: Keep in mind, granite is porous, that's why you need to keep sealing it. Suction cups need a smooth non-porous surface to work. So, your issue may just be the microscopic fissures in the granite letting air into and releasing the cup.

**Q: It says that it Includes One Multi-Purpose Stainless Steel screen. Does this screen work for tomatoes? Also, what is the width of the C clamp? My countertop has a rounded edge and I am concerned that the clamp won't be large enough.**
A: I have used mine many, many times and I am extremely happy with it.As stated, the suction cup does not work well for me either. I have rounded counter tops as well. I have a 18" X 12" scrap of quartz when we remodeled the kitchen. We put some glue feet on the bottom. A chopping block so to speak. I attach the unit to the block. I can than move it to where it is comfortable to use. Works extremely well for me and I am very happy with it. Cut my work by half at least!

**Q: It doesn't say how large the container is. Most are 2 quart. Is this one 2 quart?**
A: I would say the size of the funnel is about 2 quarts but it is just meant to act as a funnel. You use a bowl of whatever size you wish to catch the skins, seeds and cores and a separate bowl to catch the pulp and juice. I just keep cranking until my bowls are full.

**Q: can it do grapes?**
A: You have to get a different screen for grapes. Its in the manual.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review
*by A***R on October 14, 2025*

This is an excellent machine for the money. I have put 1 1/2 bushels of tomatoes , 1/2 bushel of apples and 1 bushel of grapes through so far with excellent results. Cooked food goes through easier than raw, but the raw tomatoes were no problem with the extra supplied clamp. The suction cup is very effective but needs a bit of help with the raw food. As others have mentioned the tomatoes benefit by putting them through three times but each time the squeezings are reduced by 80% or so and its a small thing to put them through again. I bought the extra screens to have the one for chunky salsa and it worked very well but you do get seeds and a few bits of skin in the puree because the holes in the screen are big.
