The Royal Hunt of the Sun (Penguin Modern Classics)

Glorious but tragic Sun set.
Excellent, different slant on the history and interestingly, albeit fictional, puts meat on the skeleton as far as the characters are concerned. Appreciate this is the script for the play but I, nevertheless, see Christopher Plummer (from the film) throughout!

Not better than the movie, but deeper
Since I first watched the last centuries movie adaptation and then ordered this, I'm not overwhelmed by the content Shaffer is providing. But to read the additional details and things the author had in mind is raising my appreciation for both the script and the movie. Hollywood did it very well. One of the view examples where movie and (play)book equal in genius thanks to a masterpiece from the author. The Hunt for the Sun does not have to shy back before the other big storys of this artist.

but that's not as good as reading the story personally
I have the film version...but that's not as good as reading the story personally. Peter Shaffer sure came across with this historical drama.
