The New RugGear RG160 Outdoor and Waterproof Mobile Phone - Dual SIM

Flimsy compared to my RugGear 100 useless instructions supplied. Sent it back.

This is a lovely little phone if you are tired of carrying around the big (and getting bigger) smartphones. It reminds me of an old smaller sized Nokia (only a rugged version). It can take most apps from the play store, but I have chosen only a few basic apps to save battery drain. I have OSMand for maps, Plex for syncing music, telegram and Zello for messaging and Audible for books. That’s as simple as I need it to be. Obviously, it can take Gmail, whatsapp, google maps and many more. I do still use a smartphone, but only at home. I bought this phone just for carrying around and I have to say it is perfect for that. – Fits anywhere. If I found myself in a duck pond I wouldn’t be worried about this phone in my pocket.With my simple set up, I find myself charging the phone maybe every 5 or so days with moderate use, which is great, and I doubt if the battery ever went below 40%. This phone will survive a dunk in the water or a drop on the ground. Although, it is a good small size it fits nicely in your hand meaning you should be less likely to drop it. It is running an older version of android, but that suits me perfectly. It is less complicated than keeping up with continuous releases of new versions.Sending texts takes a bit longer with the old-style external keyboard (like an old version Nokia) where you press the digit so many times to get the letter you require. – But I find myself writing very short texts now or none at all if possible, by simply calling the person. As I was trying to phase out messaging as much as possible (as a lifestyle choice)- this suits me.If you value a simpler, less intrusive way of staying in touch and carrying some books, music, maps etc., the 32GB expandable SD card slot should be enough for most of your needs.I had a few questions over the past year, and I could not believe how fast the Ruggear tech guys responded and how pleasant and helpful they were. Very impressed with that and will keep me watching their products for many years.All in all, this is wonderful phone for those looking to downgrade from the current social norms of “head burying phone people” – I am so glad I gave this a try. 100% recommend.Thank you Ruggear.

He comprado este móvil Ruggear nuevo, y lo he recibido en el momento indicado, pero se supone que la batería dura hasta 25 dias, en espera y en los dos días que llevo con él, no dura ni 24 horas.

Può essere anche un ottimo ibrido tra smartphone e cellular resistente, ma arriva con impostato la lingua cinese (credo) e ora devo trovare il modo di farmelo impostare in lingua italiana da qualche cinese, non mi era mai capitata una cosa del genere, di default dovrebbe essere almeno in inglese!

Ich kaufte dieses Telefon, weil ich ein kompaktes, unzerbrechliches und wasserdichtes Gerät für meine Bergtouren haben wollte. Unnötiges Zusatz-Gewicht in meinem Rucksack möchte ich vermeiden.Vorsicht - das Betriebssystem ist Android 4.4.2 - dass eine ältere graphische Benutzeroberfläche hat. Man bedient es teilweise über seinen Touchscreen, teilweise über die Tastatur.Wenn ein kompaktes und unzerstörbares Handy mit einer super langen Akkulaufzeit gewünscht ist - also ein richtiger Out-Door-Begleiter, auf den man sich verlassen kann - dann ist es das perfekte Gerät. Ich bin absolut happy und würde es jederzeit wieder kaufen.

Resistente muy bien protegido, el WhatsApp funciona bien, el sistema para escribir es igual que en los antiguos móviles. Ideal como teléfono de trabajo en exteriores.

Ich hatte vor vielen Jahren einmal das Ruggear RG100 in Betrieb. Ein super Outdoortelefon und sehr robust. Leider wies es Schwächen in der Menüführung beim Herstellen einer Telefonverbindung auf. Man mußte immer den überflüssigen Menüpunkt "bt-call" überwinden. Ausserdem schaltete es häufiger unbegründet einfach "aus". Nach Auskunft von Ruggear, im September 2019, seien diese Schwachpunkte immer noch nicht behoben. Warum eigentlich nicht?!Man riet mir bei Ruggear alternativ das RG 160 zu kaufen. Ich hatte es bestellt, ausgepackt, in die Hand und nicht einmal in Betrieb genommen. Ein klappriges Billighandy. Mit Tastaturmatte wie bei den 15 EUR Grabbelhandys von Mediamarkt aus der Kiste. Mit richtigen Männerhänden nicht zu bedienen. Der Akkudeckel zerbrechlich. An einer Seite wird er gesteckt, an der anderen Seite mit 2 Schräubchen befestigt. Ähnlich wacklige Handies gibt es auch von Caterpillar. B30 heißen sie, glaube ich.Ich will ein stabiles Telefon, mit großen Händen Tasten drücken und Telefonieren. Wie beim RG 100. Fehlanzeige beim RG 160.Ich habe eine ganz klare Strukturierung. Mit einem Tablet "mache ich Daten". Mit einem Fotoapparat fotografiere ich. Und mit einem Telefon telefoniere ich. Die jeweils unterschiedliche Ergonomie der dafür einzusetzenden Geräte macht eine Kombination nicht möglich. Trotzdem gibt es das iPhone.
