Review: Essential and Safe, with polish - There is a lot to like in this chestnut knife. First, it is the classic blade design which means good leverage and great safety to my fingers. Second, unlike my first chestnut knife (now lost) the metal of the blade is better steel. It is smoother/shiny, so cuts and cleans better, easier. Lastly, the wood handle is also still the same simple handle, but polished and even branded nicely. This is the chestnut knife for safe, easier and effective chestnut prep and shelling. Review: It is a specialty knife BUT...... - It is a specialty knife BUT......it actually works very well. When cutting the chestnuts you are in control of the movement. I cut plenty with normal kitchen knives but was always dicing with cutting my finger tips. So if you are into chestnuts and keeping your finger tips this is a worthwhile investment.

**Q: Can you use it to score breads ? Thanks**
A: It is very sharp, but I do not know if it would be the best choice for scoring bread. It works extremely well on chestnuts.

**Q: What is the best way to sharpen this knive? The blade is very small and the edge seems to dull quickly.**
A: I've had this thing for a few years and have never needed to sharpen it; however for small curved blades like this, I suggest using a rounded edge or circular sharpening stone.

**Q: Can this pry an oyster and not be bent?**
A: I would say "no".  It's a sturdy little knife but I feel it could bend or even break if used for oysters.

It is a specialty knife BUT......it actually works very well. When cutting the chestnuts you are in control of the movement. I cut plenty with normal kitchen knives but was always dicing with cutting my finger tips. So if you are into chestnuts and keeping your finger tips this is a worthwhile investment.
