My Wife Sews Professionally and Loves These Scissors
My wife sews professionally. She does alterations, repairs, and custom sewing. She stays pretty busy at it, and all of her customers compliment her very skilled work. Like many others have mentioned, for a long time we both thought that Gingher scissors were the best. We were loyal to Gingher. Grandma has a wonderful pair of Gingher scissors. But we've now been struggling with the poor quality of late production Gingher scissors for several years. Twice, we've sent scissors in to Gingher for servicing, but they come back little better. Gingher scissor will variously grab in spots, not cut at the very ends of the blades, or be hard to close. Cindy had resorted to using a pair of $10 Fiskar scissors, which aren't great, but they cut better than her Gingher's. Wanting to help her with this problem, and after reading so many positive reviews, I took it upon myself to order her a pair of these Kai brand. Cindy has been thrilled with her Kai scissors. She'll talk about them to anyone who cares to listen. About her four different pair she says, "They;re comfortable to use, require very little force to cut even heavy fabrics, they cut the sheerest fabrics just as well, they are sharp, and the cut well right out to the tips of the blades." With the cost of even sending a pair of Gingher scissors to Gingher for servicing at $12 a pair, plus shipping costs to get them to Gingher, it's an easy decision to just throw them away. Then spend to only few more dollars to get a pair of these fantastic Kai scissors. I like using good tools myself, so I'm happy to help supply my wife with the best tools she can own. I was so pleased with my wife's reaction to her first pair of $22 8-inch Dressmaker Shears that we bought three more Kai scissors; this pair of Embroidery Scissors, an 8-inch pair of the Professional series, and a 10-inch Professional series. She's a professional and she deserves professional tools. Maybe Grandma will leave us the good Gingher scissors in her will, but there's still no way they can be better than these Kai scissors. We would prefer to buy an American product, but can't afford to subsidize poor American quality. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, After two years of using her Kai scissors almost every day. my wife says the three large pair still cut like new. She uses this pair of embroidery scissors every day to cut thread at her sewing machine. This is a LOT of use for these little scissors and they've finally gotten to where they don't cut well on the last 1/2-inch of the tips where she uses them the most. This isn't at all disappointing, but it is time to order another pair. Professionals expect to wear out tools eventually. Also, shortly after trying out Cindy's Kai scissors, even grandma put her Gingher scissors away for good when her beau bought her a set of Kai scissors. She also says, "Wow, I can't imagine how I got along without these."

Great scissors
Kai has a great reputation of making quality scissors so I decided to get a pair. I needed a small pair for hand-sewing jobs like quilting, piecing, applique, and embroidery. These work very well for their intended purpose. However, the blades are thick and cannot replace curved thin-blade scissors. These are very sharp and seem like they should hold an edge very well; only time will tell. These are a bit off balance since the handles are plastic and the metal does not go all the way out to form the finger holes. However, the black part has a "grippy" feeling so they don't slip like metal scissors do. The resistance you feel as you open and close the blades feels good; not too loose and not too tight. The size is great for hand work. I took off a star because the blades are really thick and the balance is off. Overall, these are great scissors. I'm ordering the curved blade 5100C as well as the serrated edge 8". You won't be disappointed in Kai quality.

Incredibly sharp and precise
They aren’t as cute as the crane scissors, but they’re the sharpest and most precise I’ve ever used. I have two pairs, one for metal threads and one for regular, and I’m amazed how well the pair I use for metal threads is holding up. The metal is actually quality so they can have an incredibly thin blade that is still strong and holds an edge. Worth the price, better than dozens of other pairs I’ve tried.

These are perfect for at the seeing machine, nice point for precision cutting. They do cost more then most but well worth it in the end. Will be buying more.

A excellent shape pair of scissors, they get right up into tight spots, clip at the tip of scissors with precision. Wonderful. They do exactly what they say they would do with ease. We'll worth the cost.

These are great scissors - I have a pair beside each sewing machine. I find I'm using them more than the 3.5" embroidery scissors - they seem to retain their sharpness at the tip better - that is, until you drop them on the floor a number of times. having done that, I bout two new pairs to replace the ones that weren't still sharp at the tips.
