Nimitz2nd HDD SSD Hard Drive Caddy Compatible with Asus Hp Dell Lenovo Acer Fujitsu Sony Samsung Replace 9.0mm/9.5mm Optical Drive

I have an HP Envy 17-u292cl (17” touchscreen purchased from Costco) that had a 9mm model GUE1N optical drive (“ultra slim” - even slimmer than the normal 9.5mm "slim" ODD). This caddy has all of the holes, hardware, and any additional (longer screws, or screws to secure the hard drive, etc.) hardware that you'd need to fit it and attach any original brackets, etc. It works great, and is even one of the more well equipped ones that has the "diagnostic" dipswitch - how mine came was what I needed for HP - the diagnostic mode "off" a.k.a. the diagnostic pin "disconnected" - that's with the nearly hidden dip switch set farthest away from the SATA connectors of the unit. This caddy is exactly 9mm in height, fits perfectly in my laptop, and between the hardware that came off of my DVD writer and that came with this unit is a perfect secure fit, and even the face plate cover of the original drive mates with it so everything looks nice. Windows recognizes it and the computer shuts down (note that switch position - or search for it - with HP computers it seems you want that diagnostic pin "turned off") and everything just works!

Fit great in my HP Envy m7-u109dx, just be careful when removing the bezel on the original ROM Drive as I broke 2 of the clips. But product was easy to install, remove laptop bottom cover, unscrew the ROM drive, remove hardware (brackets to hold it to the laptop) from Rom Drive, transfer hardware to caddy and put it back together.

This adapter, the Nimitz 2nd HDD SSD Hard Drive Caddy is an impecibale ODD sata to full size sata adapter. The install was easy, the system recognized the SSD I installed into the dock immediately without issue. No drivers were needed. The caddy was even able to use the previous drive's faceplate so it didn't look out of place on the laptop in which I installed it. A great upgrade if you do not use the optical disc drive on your laptop and would prefer more storage.

I bought this caddy to give a new life to my old laptop ASUS X455LAB. I thought it wouldn't work, but I was wrong.Since I don't use the CD drive, I removed it and installed the caddy along with an old unused hard drive, and now I have more storage space.It arrived in good condition, and so far, I have no complaints about the item.

Saw a youtube video about this adapter. I ordered it, installed an older 2.5 hard drive that I had and doubled my storage capacity in 30 minutes. Came with all the screws and tools needed to do the install. I would order this again.

Used it to replace the optical drive in a Lenovo IdeaPad 130-15AST (also purchased on Amazon). Fit perfectly and easy to install.

Just as I expected

I wasn't sure if this would fit my 9.0mm laptop (HP 15-db0069wm) but it fits perfectly and very easy to install. I didn't put the screw bracket onto the drive caddy and so I didn't screw it into the laptop so i can easily swap hard drives and it seems very secure still but I did install the face plate it was easy enough to pry off with the tool included.
