Rare phone, but needs old PBX. Amazon/Seller won't do int'l shipping? Phone was made/sold in Canada (Nortel went under in '09) ?
Great phone, but requires a Nortel Option 11 Meridian PBX which must have a line programmed for this specific model. Don't know why the seller and Amazon can't enable this for Amazon Global Shipping. There's no lithium battery in it, and there were no export restrictions when it was made in the mid to late 1980s. It's a Canadian phone and was made in Canada. The boxes clearly say so. Only the handset cord was made in China. It works great for me, but take note -- this is not a residential analog or VOIP phone. Do not connect this to a regular residential phone jack or VOIP gateway FXS port or ATA,, or you will cause irreversible damage (as the voltage is higher on analog lines), especially is ring voltage is sent down the line. It's a digital touchscreen phone for legacy Meridian office PBXs (requires Option 11/61/81 series with TSET package -- release 7 or later.. It was de-supported a long time ago by Nortel, so I'm not sure if it will work on CS1K or the very high numbered releases.Avaya never got the rights to this, so WHY the export restriction? This is a niche product for Canadian collectors, and we can't buy it. I bought one but had to have it double-shipped through a shipment forwarder.
