This is his finest and best studio album. ALL tracks are so good that they could have been singles!!"Don't ask me why is my favourite track, but hey they could ALL be my favourite track!! there are only 10 tracks on this fine CD from this 1980 Album. Billy Joel is a fine Singer Songwriter and is a fine writer of songs that tell stories ( a bit like Harry Chapin in the 70's) and they are worth listening to for the words not just great catch tunes. This Album is good when you are on long car journey as it is a Album worth listening to ALL the way through at the same time as a continuous story.The Title " Glass Houses" just means "People who live in Glass Houses should not throw stones. THAT is what the theme is here if you listen to the lyrics.he only had ONE British no 1 in 83 but should have had more.The biggest hit from this is " Its still rock and roll to me" you will love this Album...Trust me........I would give it 10 Stars IF I could have! he's just been given a prestige award....and well deserved too.

Another masterpiece from Joel's golden period, 'Glasshouses' is a relatively uncomplicated mainstream rock album with some inviting melodies and thoughtful lyrics. The first five tracks are so brilliant that what follows struggles to maintain quite the same standard. nevertheless nothing really disappoints. Standout tracks are 'You May Be Right', 'It's Still Rock and Roll To Me' and the exceptional 'All For Leyna'.

This was the last Billy Joel album I bought on vinyl in the '80's on it's release. Almost forty years on I recently decided to purchase it on CD. There is far less prominent piano playing on a lot of this album than his previous releases but the track's All For Leyna', 'Don't Ask Me Why' and the brilliant 'I Don't Want To Be Alone Anymore' are all highlights. Also 'Sometimes A Fantasy' and 'Sleeping With The Television On' are also great tracks. Most of the tracks here are straight forward rock and roll based and few clock in at more than 4 minutes long so there's no epics a la 'Until The Night' or 'Scenes From An Italian Restaurant'. The only track I don't really like is 'Close To The Borderline'. However the sound quality on this Remastered CD is great throughout and there's a nice illustrated lyric booklet. If only Sony would revisit his first few releases with the same quality and Remaster them in the same way as an alternative to having to make do with the flimsy cardboard sleeved editions which are only currently available as part of a boxed set, and are the only means of obtaining the often overlooked but brilliant 'Streetlife Serenade' and 'Turnstiles' albums. 'Glasshouses' was Joel's last great album for a number of years until he regained some momentum with the release of 'Stormfront'. 'Glasshouses' was excellent but what followed in the shape of 'An Innocent Man' and 'River of Dreams' were way more successful but for me, largely more irritating and sadly the majority of his earlier work (bar 'The Stranger' and '52nd Street') is still today ignored and maybe seen by some as more inferior due to the lack of hits. But as any fans of his early material will no doubt know, that this is far from the case.

Bought as a present for my wife. She is a big Billy Joel fan. Since seeing him live at Wembly this year so are our daughters.

Love it; one of my favourites from my youth which I still have on vinyl. Good to hear it again.

Classic BJ had on vinyl for years now I can enjoy again. Some of his best songs a must have for lovers BJ style.
