Ben Johnson and Harry Carey, Jr. are two of the greatest character actors in motion picture history. Both were members of the legendary John Ford Stock Company. They played major roles in classic films such as The Searchers, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, Rio Grande, Fort Apache, Mighty Joe Young, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Mister Roberts and many more. Johnson won an Oscar for his work in THE LAST PICTURE SHOW. In this film, Ben and Harry recall their experiences with many Hollywood Legends, including JOHN WAYNE, HENRY FONDA, JAMES CAGNEY, WILLIAM POWELL, MAUREEN O'HARA and many more.

An Important Cowboy Document
These two characters are veterans of many cowboy classics. It’s interesting hanging out with the two (should’ve been filmed in a saloon) as they simply reminisce about their film careers. Two chill cowboys. My only complaint is the lack of clarity in the production. Very blurry in several places. Probably copied off of a tape. But still worth installing in your Cowboy Archive.

Didn't know I was buying a DVD-R.It's not the end of the world, and I definitely wanted to own this documentary, I would have just liked to have know that this was a cheap 10 cent DVD-R Quality is just fine though.

Two great western character actors discuss the challenges of working for John Ford
Keeping a review of this intimate documentary short seems to be in keeping with the soft-spoken character actors -- Ben Johnson and Harry Carey, Jr. -- interviewed on camera. If you ever wanted to be a "fly on the wall" at the shooting of a John Ford mivie, here's your chance. Why didn't these skilled do more work for the taciturn grump who made such great films? It's in here. Was John Wayne terrified of Pappy? Yep, that, too. Why did Johnson finally accept Peter Bogdanovich's entities to do ""The Last Picture Show' and win an Oscar? Well, you get the idea. The horseman from Oklahoma and the son of the celebrated silent screen cowboy speak us on the set and it's a heck of a ride for just two guys talking.

Excellent, real people, real cowboys!
Very good, real people, real cowboys that John Ford and others used in movies in the 1940s, ‘50s, and 60s. Plus many good stories! If you’re into old westerns, you’ll love this!

Big fan of both men
I thought this documentary was very well done with interviews with both Harry Cary Jr. and Ben Johnson. The fact that they were good friends make it even better,

This film is an “At Home Visit” with two giant film stars.
This film is outstanding!Especially for fans of Johnson and Carey.I watch it over and over.I can’t think of anything I would find “least” to report.I identified with everything they talked about and was dazzled by their everyday attitude toward the screen giants they worked with.Ben Johnson is a particular favorite of mine and I would suggest to others the book “The Nicest Fella” which follows his life and career.
