Any one who dyes their hair should read this book, not matter what age.
This is a fabulous book. Whether you are considering "ditching the dye" or have already done so, this book is a must. Practical information on how to care for gray hair and how to handle the dreaded transition. I loved the stories of each woman's journey that are profiled in the book. I read the book in a weekend. I truly did not want it to end. It was like meeting new friends and sharing stories. After reading this book I was thinking back on how long it has been since I have colored my hair. As we age, we typically tend to be very aware of taking good care of our bodies from the inside out. Much of us become more aware of caring for the world around us. While was on this journey in my life to eat cleaner foods, care for my home in a less chemical environment, why was I making my hair and body a toxic waste dump with coloring chemicals. Not to mention the cost, time and waste/trash generated coloring every 3 weeks. Removing the dying process from my self care routine just made so much more sense to me. No more wavering about what it would looks like, etc., it is just better for me and planet in the long run.I bought the digital copy. Loved it so much I will be ordering the paper copy.

THIS book is the BEST book I have read yet on the subject
I'm young (42) and due to hair dye allergies am trying to just let the silver/gray come in...which is really tough in today's society! THIS book is the BEST book I have read yet on the subject. It is filled with testimonies(and great pictures) that explain their whole transition from start to finish plus the products they like to use. It has both older women and younger women that have transitioned which I really appreciated! It also has sections on hair care/hair products/skin care/makeup/clothes etc for when you "go gray". Right now I have basically what looks like silver tinsel in my dark hair. This book is so positive and uplifting and shows you that gray can be GREAT and not to feel inferior to those who dye........ I'm not sure why people feel the need to make comments such as "that will make you look old" "why would you want to do that"- how RUDE! but it happens! This book "has my back" as far as comments you can say back to those people but also to know you aren't alone in hearing it and can keep going through with it- the end result will be worth it! gray hair doesn't have to make you look old/washed out/drab- change your hairstyle, makeup or clothing a little and add a confident attitude and you'll look great- get this book!!!! invaluable for the process!!!

A delightful guide to going gray with style!
This book is a fun, upbeat pep talk for anyone who's considering going gray. I found the beautiful photos of real women (not models) and the advice from the women about what hair products they like to be very useful in trying to decide whether to stop coloring my hair. I've already had a few friends borrow the book. There are makeup tips and tutorials at the end. Punctuation sticklers should be aware that one will run across the occasional misplaced apostrophe, etc.

Already a Silver Sister
I really enjoyed this book and found the personal stories very interesting. I stopped coloring my hair about 5 years ago in my early 50's after 30 years of coloring, but it was a big transition for me to get there. My youngest child was born when I was 41 years old and at that point I was very sensitive to people thinking I was his grandmother instead of his mother. I sure could have used this book back then. I now LOVE my gray hair. Even though I stopped coloring a long time ago I still found this book very inspiring as I hope other women will too. I did buy this in the Kindle format, and as usual with non-fiction books, I'm sorry I did. I will now be buying this book in the paperback format.

Authenticity ... Mother Nature's way
Not only did I love reading the stories about these beautiful women that chose to be authentic, but the tips that they offered are priceless. Jan's book covers the thin to the thick, coarse hair as well as the truly silver to the softer grays so there's something for everyone. Besides, it's just nice knowing there are so many women around the world who choose to embrace who they really are, defying so many of society's "rules" about aging. To hell with those that think gray is old!! Mother Nature knows best when it comes to us looking our most natural, beautiful self in terms of the combination of hair, skin and eye colors. Remember, it's not nice to fool Mother Nature ... with artificial colors and chemicals. Be real.

Just Average
I've bought a couple of other books that deal with the topic of going grey. This one is merely average. I found there were simply too many brief comments/stories about other women and how they experienced the transition to grey hair, what makeup they now wear, how they dress, how they feel about getting older, etc. A few comments and stories from people concerning these topics should have been more than adequate, but there was simply an excess of it. It came across as fillers and padding in order to stretch it into a book. The pictures included were inspiring, but I think more 'before and after' photos could have been included, especially when the author talks about makeup, hairstyles, and wardrobes. Show us, don't just tell us. All in all, there was a lot of unnecessary boring wordiness and just not enough instructive photos.

Recommended! Get the inside scoop on Going Gray
I found out about this book after I had started my journey to gray hair and wish I would have found it sooner. Everyone has a story, a why, which I found interesting, along with their individual tips as to what worked for them. The photographs are gorgeous! The author has shared her expertise with tips on skin care, style, jewelry, make up, not to mention products that work to add shine, help style and keep gray/silver/white hair in beautiful condition. I read it once, reading again and do refer to it before I go on the hunt for other products to try. Treat yourself with this book!

A joy to read
So informative, I'm not making an announcement to everyone, first I will get a fab haircut, always put my makeup on adjust as necessary as time goes on. Be more adventurous with my clothing and jewellery. Lose the 21 pounds of weight which is ageing me. Take more care of myself, let's see what comments I get.
