Closest thing to real salt yet.
Due to health issues in January I am now totally banned from having Sodium or Potassium in my diet, even the recommended 6 gram daily limit is to much. Obviously it's not possible to be totally salt free, sodium is in everything you buy ( tinned tomatoes for example ) and I have gone from being a salt freak ( loved it on everything ) to now having to count my salt intake like people count their calories. Food tasted so bland without it and I tried many substitutes which frankly tasted awful. Then I saw this product on a TV programme with Greg Wallace, googled it and found out where to get it. I have to say this is the closest thing to salt I have come across, ok it's not as strong as "real salt" but it'll do for me. Really recommend this if like me you have to cut sodium or potassium out of your diet but really miss it. A big thankyou to Salternative, I shall definitely be ordering again.

"Saltish" !
This seaweed based condiment does have a salty flavour. It's not quite salt as we all know it, but if you apply enough you do get a salty effect. As the particles are actually small pieces of dried shredded seaweed, they can be quite granular when applied directly to food, and if put into a stew or casserole they uncurl to form little dark green strips. This is not a problem if you apply the condiment via a fairly fine pepper grinder, the result beíng a fine powder not unlike black pepper in appearance and texture. All this said, the product does exactly what it is supposed to do, although quite a lot is needed to get a noticeable effect - but this will vary depending on your individual palate. It IS a good product, and you get an Iodine boost as well !

The seaweed does have a salty taste but it doesn't dissolve well in food like salt so basically the food you put it in stays non salty and you just eat salty seaweed. And the chunks are too big and gets stuck between the teeth and are annoying when you try to eat eg. mash potato or creamy soup and you have to put lots of it into food to even make it a little salty, also it has a taste of its own being seaweed. I wonder if it would be better if they blended it so it's small like salt.... anyway I have to mention I also had palpitations the day I took this but I don't know if it's because of this but for that reason I don't want to use it again. That was just my experience, others may be different so might be worth a try for the sake of your health.

Really tastes like salt
Have been looking for a slat alternative and only found Low Salt. Was a but suspect about the claim but when i tried it it does really replace the taste of salt . I would say two teaspoons of the seaweed to every half to one of normal salt. As they say every little helps. Product needs a bit of milling down otherwise it just looks like mixed herbs in you food. No after taste .Not gonna say i feel amazing as it does not work like that but if i know i have reduced my Sodium intake that can only be good. Can you bring out a bigger pack soon. Thanks

Good but not salty
I liked the overall taste though this is subtle, not salty enough to substitute for salt, at least not for me but does add a texture and slight flavour in addition to traditional seasoning. I like it and will buy some more when I run out. Good added to most meats and fish whilst cooking

... as a salt substitute but it just doesn't taste good. But
Tried this as a salt substitute but it just doesn't taste good. But, if you are a sea lover, you can probably put it in soups!

Useful , healthy and mild salty flavour
Great for those of us on low sodium diets. It does taste of seaweed though which I don't mind...some might.
